Charity Purposes

  1. To maintain and enhance the lives of the community in our area by offering projects that help improve their mental and physical health.

  2. To promote the use of our premises, The Acorn Centre to as many people as possible in our area.

Activities.

This year was a difficult one with the onset of the Covid Pandemic in March putting an end to lots of activities taking place in our centre. We were able to run a few sessions during the autumn months with the aid of a grant from NACN before closure again after Christmas. “Supporting Communities” provide us with Zoom training sessions to enable our community to take part in other sessions run by BMW and MEAAP.

Insurance is still covered with Zurich. Unfortunately no cover payback was available for activities missed during the year.

St Mary’s GA & CC set up the craft room as a trial gym.

Our group hosted a virtual coffee morning in aid of MacMillan Cancer in October which was a great success.

Mid & East Antrim Council provided a specific covid grant which enabled us to buy and deliver food boxes to our local community. Our Christmas grant, again from the council, assisted us to provide food parcels in lieu of our usual Christmas Dinner. They also gave us a grant of £300 towards the cost of our Public Liability insurance.

We closed our account with Chubb who had been responsible for the maintenance of our alarms and fire extinguishers. We are now with MKB.

CRDA walking group continued to operate when it was permissible to walk.

Our Apple Tree project with Cullybackey was completed just before the first lockdown in March.

This was a year when our activities were severely hampered by the pandemic and we hope for a brighter and busier 2021.

Priorities for our future development.

In the next year we hope to continue and add to our services of providing a variety of programs for members of our community.

To help ensure our continued sustainability we are planning to:
