PORTADOWN TEMPERANCE COUNCIL

YEAR ENDED 31[ST] DECEMBER 2023

NORTHERN IRELAND CHARITY NUMBER NI 105794

The Trustees of the Charity who served during the year and still hold office are:

The Trustees’ Annual report relates to activities carried on by the Charity from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023, as governed by its Trust Deed dated 5 July 2016.

The principal address of the Charity is c/o Mr Eric Hammond, 41 Corcullentragh Road, Portadown, Co Armagh, BT62 4JB.

The Purpose of the Charity

The Charity exists to provide and support the education of the general public as regards the negative impact (physical, mental and spiritual) of alcohol and drugs. It has particular (although not exclusive) focus on children and youth. The Charity provides beneficiaries with accurate information via training programmes in schools and youth organisations in order to assist them in making healthier lifestyle choices.

The Trustees oversee funds which support the work of trained school visitors in delivering these training programmes to upper primary pupils in some 50 schools.

The Public Benefits derived from the Charity’s Purposes

The Trustees have given due consideration to the public benefit guidance provided by the Commission.

The delivered programme, from a Christian perspective, educates young people to make healthy, drugfree decisions for life. Positive evaluations have been received from pupils and teachers alike.

Financial Review of the Charity

The accounts of the Charity dated 31 December 2023 show that its finances are in a strong position to continue providing finance in lines with its future purposes.

Signed on behalf of the Trustees

Eric Hammond
