##

The Grange Park Primary School Parent, Teachers and Friends' AssociaGon carries out its purpose by holding social, educaGonal and sporGng events centred at the Primary School for the children, their parents and guardians and the local community to promote the work of the school and encourage advocacy for its mission. Any surplus from such events is gi[ed to the School in pursuit of Grange Park's academic purpose.

In carrying out their duGes, the trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission’s public benefit requirement statutory guidance. The public benefits of Grange Park PTFA are:

Purpose 1: Improved relaGonships between home and school

The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for addiGonal resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an acGve PTFA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support.

Purpose 2: Advancing the educaGon of pupils in the school

The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educaGonal progress and a_ainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, acGviGes and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding.

These purposes do not lead to harm. The benefits are for children at Grange Park Primary School. Charity trustees (PTFA commi_ee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children a_end and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefits are provided to all beneficiaries.

## **This year’s acAviAes**

Events held this year for the children, their parents and guardians included:

P1 parents’ coffee morning – this free social event helps new P1 parents get to know each other over coffee and cake, introduces them to the PTFA and encourages engagement between parents and the school.

Breakfast at Sustrans event – the PTFA provided breakfast in support of the school’s car-free day organised in conjuncGon with Sustrans. Encouraging walking and cycling to school helps reduce the traffic volumes around the school, improving safety and reducing polluGon levels. The proceeds were donated on behalf of the school to a charitable collecGon for a local school child needing life-saving treatment not available in the UK.

Halloween disco – the primary purpose of this event is to provide a fun social occasion for the pupils, while also promoGng parental engagement, although it is also a successful fund raising event.

Wine nights – we ran two wine tasGng events, which gave parents the opportunity to socialise while also raising funds.

Ballot – donaGons from parents and local businesses were raffled in order to raise funds.

Big Birthday Party – to celebrate the school’s 50[th] birthday, the PTFA in cooperaGon with the staff organised and funded a birthday party for the whole school. The party included many of the elements of our normal summer fair, such as bouncy castle and slide, bungee maze, sports acGviGes, sideshows like hook-a-duck, and art and cra[ acGviGes, but was held in school Gme and all acGviGes were free to the children.

50[th] Birthday Open Night – we provided and served refreshments at the open night for past pupils and staff held to celebrate the school’s 50[th] birthday.

## **Spending**

PTFA funds were used on the following:

- creaGon of murals by a local arGst around the P1 classrooms, which brighten the environment while also providing learning opportuniGes.

- Big Birthday Party for the school’s 50[th] anniversary.

Surplus funds were carried over to the following year.
