past 100 years. After the openlng, members and guests moved Into the cafe next door for refreshments, where we heard short presentstions from three local speakers. May was a really busy month and on the 13 and 14 we had our Festlval of Gardenlng In the Museum Courtyard, where there was a range of gardenlng stalls, such as Alplnes, Bee-keeplng and Bonsal, as well as a range of plants supplled by members. To end the month of May, we had our Centenary Dlnner at the Stables Restauran¢ Groomsport, where we had an excellent meal followed by an after dlnner talk by Davld Maxwell of BBC Gardeners, Corner, and I would Ilke to say a speclal thanks to Yvonne McIlmall who produced the floral arrangements for the tables. So May was over and most of the members needed a rest, but only for a few days, because June saw the members. gardens open for other members to come and have a look. Ukewlse, In July we had another three gardens open. The changeable weather was kind to us and we had a good turnout at each garden. Before we leave June and July, there were stiii two blg events to tske place. On Frlday 2 and Saturday 3 June we held our annual plant sale, wlth refreshments belng offered thls year for the flrst tlme since Covld. Thanks to all the members who brought along a wlde selettlon of plants for sale, and those who worked hard over that weekend talklng to members of the publlci glvlng adv1, selllng the plants and servlng refreshmnts. We achleved the hlghest total of sales ever, ralslng approx £2,500. The second blg event, and one we have never trled before, was a 4-nlght coach trlp to Scotland and England, endlng up at the RHS Show at Tatton Park. Thls was a great trlp, where we saw many great gardens, stsyed In an excellent hotel wlth good food and entsrtalnment every nlght. A large vots of thanks must go to Llz Mcwatters who put the whole trlp together, and I know that everyone who went along on the trlp enjoyed It Immensely. The second coach trlp that Uz organlsed was up the Antrlm Coast, stopplng at the new Coronatlon Gardens, followed by Glenarm Castle, endlng the day wlth a vlslt to lan Scroggy's nursery at Carnlough, and once ag.aln everyone had a very enjoyable day. The last event In our Certenary year was our Summer Show, whlch was j.udged by one of our own ffRmbers, Kay Dunlop. It was nlo to see that a number of our new memb&s were stsrting to tske part In the show and some of them where gettlng Flrsts and Second5 In the sectlons they entered. I would Ilke to say a speclal thank you to three long-servlng members of our commlttee who are stsndlng down after many years of servlce; Norma Nutt, Gertl¢ Baxter and Nancy Graham. However, I hope all three wlll contlnue to come to the sodety's meetlngs. It really was a very busy year. Flrstly, I would Ilke to thank the commlttee, who were very hard-worklng durlng the past year, and to all the members who supported all the events, and I look forward to meetlng all the new members who Jolned the soclety durlng the summer.
