DERRIAGHY VILLAGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
2024
The Derriaghy Village Community Association have had a very successful year. We continue to hold a number of events and programmes throughout the year to bring our community closer together and we remain committed to keeping our Village a safe and happy place to live.
This year we received funding from both Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council PCSP. This funding helped us to provide a safe space in the heart of the community where people can access information and advice as well as a space for our committee to continue to plan and hold meetings. The funding also supported us to hold a number of community fun day events and environmental projects.
Our community garden continues to remain a popular focal point within our Village, and we welcome everyone to visit and get involved.
We have worked alongside other community groups including Hill Street Residents Group and our friends from the Indian Church to hold events together and support each other’s events.
We continue to build on our relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies through our interagency work. We hold a quarterly interagency meeting alongside Supporting Communities, Housing Executive, PSNI, LCCC, TADA, EA and local elected representatives. We also hold an annual Estate Inspection to help improve environmental issues. We have been involved in ongoing meetings in regard to the plans for the old school site. We also sit as a member of the Housing Community Network with the Housing Executive and all the information from these meetings is fed back to our community to keep them up to date.
Finally, I would like to thank all of those who have supported us over the past year, especially the dedicated committee and volunteers.
