The t￿SteeS confirn] that they have complied with the requirements of the Charities Act (Northem Jreland) 2008 to
have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for Nort]iern Ireland.
The direct benefits which flow from the purposes of the Church include the gaining of an understanding in Christian
beliefs as set out in the Bible and in the Church's subordinate standards (the Westminster Confession of Faith and
the Shorter and Larger Catechisms) leading to spiritual and moral development and opportunities for response to
Bible teaching. In turn, this framework leads to practical expressions of Christian beliefs and standards in the local
¢ommunity such a5 throuuh the care of those in need (including the sick, disabled and bereaved).
Generally the above benefits are delivered locally by congregations and their members, or are facilitated through
presbyteries or are organised and delivered centrally. Local delivery is facilitated by central resources in almost all
ase5. Piiblic acce55 is made known through the use of noticeboards, printed malerial, press advertisement, websites.
and social media or in other ways.
The benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluation of the services and infomial and ad-hoc feedback from
member5, their families, and members of the public.

Trustees, Report (continued)
The purpose does not lead to harni. The only private benefit flowing from our purpose is related to Ministers,
Missionaries, Dea¢ones5es, Irish Mission workers and Lay Agents who receive benefits as a result of their holding
office or employment. However, this is incidental and necessary in order to further our charitable purpose. There are
no other private benefits. The beneficiaries of this purpose are members, their families. other individuals that the
Presbyterian Church in Ireland is in direct and indirect contact with. the community in which pastoral services are
provided and other communities throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and worldwide which benefit
from our engagement with and support for both Christian and other secular organisations, charities and individual
members of the public.
The Kirk Session has had regard to the Charity Commissions Public benefit requirement statutory guidance.
Structure* governance aThd management
Finaneial instruments
Objeciives andpolicies
The charity's activities expose it to a number of financial risks including credit risk, cash flow risk and liquidity risk.
The use of finaneial derivatives is governed by th¢ charity's policies approved by the board of trustees, which
provide written principles on th¢ use of finan¢ial derivative5 to manage these risks. The charity does not U5¢
derivative financial instruments for speculative purposes.
Credit risk
The charity's principal financial &ssets are bank balances and cash, trade and other receivables. and investments.
The charity's credit risk is primarily attributable to ils trade receivables. The amounts presented in the balance sheet
are net of allowanees for doubtfisl receivables. An allowance for impairn]ent is made where ther¢ is an identified
loss event which, based on previous experience, is evidence of & reduction in the recoverability of tli¢ cash flows.
The Credit risk on liquid funds and derivative financial instruments is limited because the counterpartie5 are banks
with high credit-ratings assigned by international ¢redit-rating agencies.
The charity has no significant concentration of credit risk, with exposure spread over a large number of
counterparties and customers.
Liquidity risk
En order to maintain liquidity to ¢nsure that sufficient funds are available for ongoing operations and fu￿re
developrnents, th¢ charity uses a mixture of long-terni and short-terni debt finance.
Further detai15 regarding liquidity risk Can be found in the Statement of accounting policies in the financial
statements.
