Basis of preparation of finaneial statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by
Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
aceordance with the financial Reporting Standard Applicable in the UK and R¢public uf Ireland (FRS
102) (effective l January ?015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)). the b'inanci21 Reporting Standard
applicabl¢ lli UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
Servant Trust meets the definition of a public ben¢fAt entity under FRS 102.
Assets and liabilities are inilially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
stated in the relevant accounting policy.

Company status
The company is a company limited by guaraJrtee. The members of the cnmpany are the Directors
nam¢d oil page l and the Lompany Se.eretary. In the event of thc compdtjy beinR wound up. the
liability in respect of the guawitvc is limited to £IU per memher of the company.
Fund accounting
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discr¢tion of the Directors in
furtheranc¢ of th¢ gencral objectives of the company and which have not been des1￿)ated for other
purposes.
Restricted funds ar¢ fuiidb which are to be used in accordance wtth specific restrictioiis imwsed by
donors or which have been raised by thc conipaijy for particular purposes. The costs of rdising and
administ¢riIig such funds are charged against the specific fimd. Th¢ aim and use of each restricted
fund is set out in the notcs to the fiii¢uiLial ststements.
Income
All income is recognised once the company has receivcd the income. Income tax recoverable in
relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognis¢d at the time of when
the amount i.s received from HMRC. Incoiii¢ LLK recoverable in relatson trj investment income is
r¢Gognis¥(J Ilt the time the investmerfrt income is received. Oth¢r incom¢ ib rccognised in the period in
which it is receivable and to the Cxtent the %oods have been pmvided or on completion of th¢ scrvic¢.
Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised On￿ transfcr of eLonomic benefrt has been made to a third party.
Expenditure is classified by actlvlty. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs
and shared costs. including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct ￿$tS
attributable to a single 2CtiVlty are allocated dircctly to tlial ULtiVlty. Shared costs which cnntribiite to
more than on¢ aGtivity iuid suppon costs which are not attributsble to a singlc activity are dPPOrtioned
between those activities on a basis consist¢nt witli th¢ use of resources. (iovernance costs are those
incurred in connection with administr2tinn of the company and ¢omplianc¢ willi consiituiional and
statutory requirements. Charitable activities and Gov¢rnancc costs are costs incurred on the
company's educational operations, including support costs and Costs relating to the governance of the
company apportioned to charitable activities.
