A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

We have had an eventful year at Dunluce Guide House and the house continues to be a popular venue for Girlguiding members, families and other groups.

In July we welcomed guests who were attending the Open Golf Tournament at Royal Portrush. Some of the guests were so impressed they rebooked later in the year and enjoyed a game of golf on the famous golf course. The house is on the Discover Northern Ireland website.

During the year we have updated our internet system as the UK transitioned from analogue to digital.

We have been able to get a few grants to help with updating and refurbishing the house. The first DAERA grant allowed us to update some of the fire doors, the second allowed us to replace the flooring in the sitting room to tiles to match the rest of the ground floor. The door of the sitting room was moved to allow the door to the single bedroom to feed out onto the main corridor, a much safer way to exit in case of an emergency. The house has had a repaint and looks fresh and clean.

The third grant was from NICHI (Networks Involving Communities in Health Improvement). This allowed us to hold a very successful camp out to cook out camp in the summer. We also held a First aid at Work (18hr) course.

In September we had a BBQ to mark the official opening of our new fire pit. During this event two of the Dunluce Committee members were awarded the Girlguiding Ulster Ivy Award, and one of the young members was presented with her Queens Guide Award. There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private benefit.
