Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended
31st December 2024
The Trustees present the Annual Report and statements of Receipts and Payments and
Assets and Liabilities for Derryvullen North Parish Church for the year ended 31st December
2024
Objectives and Activities
Derryvullen North Parish Church operates with the charitable purpose of advancing religion.
The core mission of Derryvullen North Parish Church focuses on supporting the
advancement of the Christian faith by fosterin& through our parish ministry, the complete
mission of the Church-pastoral care, evangelistic witnes5, social action, and ecumenical
partnership. Maintaining openness to and active engagement with the wider community,
while providing assistance to those requiring support, represents the cornerstone of our
practical Christian ministry. Our Parish aims to promote the mission of Christ's Church
through worship, sen￿lCe. and fellowship. These goals are accomplished through our mission
and pastoral work.
Public worship and the spiritual nurture of our members constitute the fundamental
activities of our Church.
The achievement of our mission depends significantly on the generous contributions-both
personal and material of many volunteer parishioners. Their involvement includes worship
preparation and participation, Select Vestry serrfice and group activities, premises and fabric
upkeep, plus numerous pastoral and social initiatives. These contributions are deeply
valued, and we encourage all congregation members to participate, with many actively
involved.
Through our commitment to advancing the Christian faith, Derrywullen North Parish Church
maintains custody of property, records, materials and artefacts of considerable cultural and
religious heritage importance, the stewardship of which is managed by the select vestry of
Derryvullen North Parish Church.
Achievements, Performance & Public Benefit
The Parish has thoroughly considered the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's public
benefit guidance to ensure our annual activities advance our Parish objective5 while
delivering meaningful public benefit.
Derryvullen North Parish Church accomplishes its mission through regular Sunday
worship encompassing Holy Communion, Morning Prayer (both traditional and
contemporary styles), and Services of the Word. The Incumbent leads these services with
assistance from a Parish Reader and a team of pari5hioner5 who 5UPPOrt with scripture

readings and occasional intercessions. A committed and talented group enhances our
worship space through weekly sanctuary decoration, enriching our time of corporate
worship.
The Parish provides comprehensive pastoral care and support to all associated with the
Parish who seek such ministry. This encompasses continuous pastoral care plus speciali5ed
crisis support and emergency pastoral intervention. The Incumbent 15 SUPPOrted in this work
by a Diocesan Pastoral Assistant. Pastoral Care is delivered through home visits, hospital and
care facility visits, and the provision of Holy Communion to those who are ill. elderly, or
housebound.
The Parish deliver5 liturgical and pastoral ministry through the Occasional
Offices-baptism, confirmation. marriage, ministry to the sick, and burial sep4ices.
Our flourishing Sunday School currently maintains 45 children on the roll. Beyond Sunday
School participation, young people make distinctive contributions to services throughout
the year. We also celebrate an annual Children's Day Service and observe both Mothering
Sunday and Fathers, Day.
Sunday School members serve monthly as Junior Ministers, assisting in worship
leadership. This develops their confidence and emphasises their integral role within the
church community.
A vital aspect of Sunday School ministry involves or8anising gift collections for our local
Food Bank.
The Parish celebrates the principal festivals of the Church Year including: Harrfest,
Christmas, Easter and Remembrance Day. Special highlights include our Harvest
Thanksgiving with its magnificent decorations and Sunday evening Harvest Supper. The
Christm35 Midnight Holy Communion Service remains exceptionally popular and cherished.
The Parish supports various attive groups: Boys, Brigade, Craft Group, Bowling Club, Choir,
Walking Group, Catering Group and, in partnership with Castle Archdale parish, the
Mothers. Union and Women's Group. These provide diverse social opportunities and
avenues for ministry and ser4ice throughout the year. One Mothers, Union office holder has
a particular ministry supporting housebound members.
Our monthly Shoppers, Service continues at the parish centre, creating opportunities for
fellowship and community conversation.
The Parish engages with the broader community through our Rector's membership on the
Board of Governors of the local Irvinestown Primary School, where he also regularly
conducts school assemblies.
Going Concern

The trustees have examined projected budgets for the forthcoming year and confirm that
sufficient resources are secured to enable the Parish to maintain its activities. Accordingly,
the financial statements for year-end 2024 may be approved on a going concern basis.
Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document and Constitution of the Charity
Parish and Parochial Organisation operates under Chapter111 of the Church of Ireland
Constitution. Select Vestry members serve as the Charity Trustees.
Recruitment and Appointment of Select Vestry
Church of Ireland members aged 18 and over who either reside within the parish or live
elsewhere but have been regular congregation members for at least three months may
register as general vestry members. This registration enables attendance and voting at
general vestry meetings and eligibility for selert vestry election. General vestry meetings
occur at least annually. The Select Vestry is chosen during this General Vestry meeting.
Select Vestry members serve one-year terms and may seek annual re-election without term
restrirtions.
Payment and Remuneration
The Incumbent ministers to both Derryvullen North Parish and Castle Archdale as a grouped
ministry and receives stipend, office and travel allowances according to General Synod of
the Church of Ireland approved rates.
Organisational Structure
Day-to-day parish management remains the selert vestry's responsibility. The select vestry
comprises the serving parish clergy, churchwardens, glebe wardens. and typically no more
than twelve additional general vestry members elected at the Annual General Vestry.
The incumbent or officiating clergy member chairs the select vestry. Select vestry members
make decisions on matters of general parish interest and significance, including parish fund
allocation.
The Select Vestry convenes at intep4als determined by members or the diocesan synod.
