Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31" December 2022 The trustee's present the annual report and statement of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for Sallaghy ParSsh Church for the year ended 31st December 2022. Objectives and Activities The charltable purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancement of rellgion. The principal funttion of Sallaghy Parish Church is to support the advancement of the Christian rellglon by promoting through the work of Salla8hy Parish Church the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistlc, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offerlng support for those needing help is fundamental to the practlcal delivery of the tenets of Chrlstlanlty. As a result of activity in pursuit of the advancement of the Chrlstian religion, Sallaghy Parish Church has custody of a large body of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural heritage, the maintenance of which is undertaken by Salla8hy Parish Church as a secondary charitable purpose. Achievements, Performance & Public Benefit Sallaghy Parish Church fulfils its purposes in the support and advancement of the Christlan religion through weekly services, inclusive of Holy Communion, Morning Prayer, Family Servlces, Contemporarv Service worship, additional services (evenings) and those In the church's calendar at Easter, Harvest and Chrlstmas. Services continue to see steady numbers attend with increases at seasonal servlces and speclal services held. The parish offers pastoral care and assistance where feasible, to all within the parish famlly and those withln the parish boundary, with vlsitations to homes, hospital, residential and nursing homes and the provision of home communions to the sick, elderly and housebound. The 2022 Church Year saw the parish emerge further from the effects of the pandemic and a continued increase in parish activities. Rev Lorraine was able to provide pastoral support to those in particular need through hospital, residential home and parishioners own home vlsits without signiflcant restrictions in place. The Church through its, Church Services and Sunday School, provides worshlp, fellowship and teaching as an integral part of its support and advancement of the Christian Religion. Normal Sunday services were held and special services were held for the main festiva15 in the church calendar and these attract some guests from the wider community. Group services were also hosted with parishioners from the other churches attending. Page4of8
Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31" December 2022 (contlnued) The Mothers, Union and Bowling Club were able to run a mainly normal programme. As well as their monthly meetings, the Mothers, Unlon was able to host their normal Visitors, Night with people from the wider area attending. Similarly, the Bowling Club was able to run normal practice nlghts, play league matches and they also hosted a Pairs Fun Competition over 3 night5 With bowler5 from throughout the county and beyond attending. A Craft Fair was hosted in the Church Hall car park, along with cake sale and tea, coffee, scone5 tray bakes were provided in a gazebo. The event wa5 attended by many from the wider community. The parish has donated to mission and other charities, both locally and overseas. The Trustees, {who have responsibility for the upkeep of church property, Church, Graveyard and Parish Hall) continue to carry out remedial repairs and maintenance to these properties to ensure that all facilities are welcoming, safe and usable by members and the wider publlc. The aforementioned activities as described, provlde evidence of how Sallaghy Parish Church contlnues to implement its charitable purposes, the advancement of religlon, and meets the Public Benefit requirement. Sallaghy Parish Church, have through their Implementation of the Church of Ireland Safe Guarding Trust, mitigated the potential for harm from its activities. Flnanclal Revlew The principal source of income for Sallaghy Parish Church continues to be from Donations and Plate collections. The principal expense of Sallaghy Parish Church is in respect of payments regarding Dlocesan Costs/Asse55ment. Sallaghy Parish Church had a deficit of receipts over payments of £5,254.99 for the year ended 3151 December 2022. Sallaghy Parish Church continues to be in a healthy financial state as at 31st December 2022 with total cash funds of £13,706.21 Sallaghy Parish Church aims to retaln sufficient reserves to meet its expected future expenditure requirement5 as well as potential future capital projects. Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31" December 2022 (continued) Structure, Governance and Management Governinq Document and Constitutlon of the Charity Chapter111 of the Constltution of the Church of Ireland governs Parishes and Parochial Organisation. The Select Vestry members are the Charity Trustees. Recrultment and Appolntment of Selert Vestry (Trustees) All members of the Church of Ireland who are over the age of 18 and are either resident within the Parish or live elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the congregation for at least three months, may register as members of the General Vestry of the Parish, allowing them to attend and vote at meetings of the General Vestry and to stand for election to the Select Vestry. Meetings of the General Vestry are held at least once a year. The Select Vestry is elected as part of this General Vestry meeting. The Select Vestry will hold their positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry members may be re-elected annually and there is no time Ilmlt on the number of terms which may be served. Orqanlsationol Strurture The Select Vestry is responsible for the day to day management of the Parish. The Select Vestry consists of the member of clergy serving In the Parish, the Churchwardens, the Glebewardens and generally not more than twelve other members of the General Vestry elected at the General Vestrv. The Select Vestry is chalred by the Incumbent or other member of the clergy offlciating in the Parish. Select Vestry members are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concern and importance to the Parish including deciding how Parish funds are to be applied. The Select Vestry meets at times fixed by the members or by the Diocesan Synod. Special meetings may be convened at any time by the chairperson or the Churchwarden5. The Select Vestry met six times In 2022 and the attendance was 76%. Compliance wlth Publlc Benefit The Parlsh has given careful consideration to the Charlty Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into this year have helped achieve the Parish's objectives and activities, as well as provlding public benefit. Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31" December 2022 (continued) Statement of Trustee5, Responslbilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the statement of receipts and payments and statement of assets and liabilities in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland with Income less than £250,000 requires the trustees to prepare a statement of receipts and payments and a statement of assets and liabilities for each financial year. The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the Parish's transactions and dlsclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities of the Parish. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Parish and hence fortaking reasonable steps for the preventlon and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
