The charltable purpose of the Church of Ireland Is the advancement of religlon. The prlnclpal functlon
of Aghavea Parlsh Church Is to SUPPOrt the advancement of Chrlstlan reli8lon by promotSnB, through
the work cf A8havea Parish Church the whole mlsslon of the churchi Pastoral, evangellstlc, soclal
and ecurnenlcal. Belng open to and en8a8ln8 wlth soclety as a whole and offeilnB SUPPOrt for those
needlng help are fundamental to the practlcal dellvery of the beneflts of Chrlstl8nity.
As a result of actlvlty sn the pursult of the advancement of the Chrlstlan rell8lon, the Parlsh of
A8havea has custody of property and records, materla15 and artefacts of slBnlficance tts the cultural and
rellglous herltage ond malntenance of whlch Is undertaken by the Select Vestry af Aghavea Parlsh
Churth.

Aghavea Parlsh Church wa5 bullt In the townland of A8havea In 1800 and Is set Sn be¥utlful natural grounds,
seven mlles from the centre of Ennlsklllen. Around the bulldlng Is a quSte extenslve graveyard, seNlng the
communlty, not lust from Church of Ireland par15hloners. The chuich at Aghavea Is Ilnked sn antlquSty wlth
the church at Clogher and has St La5alr a5 It5 patron salnt. Llttle Is known about her, except that she was
educated wlth St Molalse of Oevenlsh, and reference5 to her famous bell whlch was used for holdlng water
and collectln8 money,
Our parSsh Is m8Snly rural, ¢overln8 a moderate area In County Fermanagh. Our m1551on Ss to explore and
8row In our fa5th, love and worshlp of God, and to extend a hand of welcome and love to others In our
ommunlty. We do th15 throu8h re8ular publlc worshlpi community outreach, and offerln8 help and fa¢llltle5
to the communSty,
Publlc Worjhlp
Agahavea Par5sh Church meet each Sunday mornlng at 11.00am. Our worshlp schedule Conslsts of Haly
Communlon on the flrst Sunday of the month, tradltlonal Mornln8 Prayer on the second Sunday, a modern
Famlly Servlce of the Word on the thlrd Sunday* modern Mornlng Prayer on the fourth Sundayi and Mornlng
Prayer on the subsequent- both Tradltlonal and Modern rltes on separate months. After each mornin8
5ervlce we continue our fellow5hlp wlth refreshments In the church. Our servlces are always open to all,
nd we welcome Strangers and visitor5 wlth us. On the second Sunday in the month, we host an Evenlng
Prayer servS¢e In the Brookeborough Memorlal Hall. Our young people are always welcome In our servlces,
and regularly asslst In the readln& prayers and collectlon5 In our Famlly Servlce5 each month.
In addltion to thls, we also have setvlces on Ash Wednesday, seNlces In conlunctlon wlth aur Methodlst
brothers and slsters throughout Holy Week, Easter Sunday Haly Communion Ire8ardle55 of whlch Sunday St
falls), Christmas Eve Holy Communlon, service of Holy CommunSon on Christmas Day and a Watch-ni8ht
service on New Year'5 Eve.
We have an Annual Harvest Weekend on the first weekend in October, comprlsln8 a Friday Evening Prayer
5erv5ce at 8pm, a Sunday morning Harvest Famlly Service at 11am and a Sunday Evening Prayer service at
8pm. We normally InvSte speaker5 from other ¢hurche5 to preach at at least one of the service5 over the
weekend. There is a Harvest Supper after the Friday evening seNl¢e in the Parish Hall.

Our young people host a Nativity Service on the first or second Sunday of December and we present gifts
to the church for the annual Gift Collection for the BBC and Salvatlon Army. Our annual service of rtlne lesson5
and carols is always on a Sunday morrtln8 prlor to Christmas Day. normallyjolned ny members of magulresbrldge
Silver Band. who provide the music for the occasion.
We observe Lent by havlng regular Wednesday evenlng serylces, normally Evenln6 Prayer, culmlnatln8
In the Holy Week servlces,
At each servlce we have a reBular pattern of Wofshlp, followin8 the Rev15ed Common Lectlonary for our
seNlce themes and readSng5. Our or8anlsts select hymn5 approprlate to the readlnBs and service theme
each week. Our church ha5 a well malntalned electronlc organ and a very capable organlst and commltted
cholr who share the normil pattern of servlce5 durlng the month. Our cholr also perform at speclal servl¢e5
such as Harves¢ E3ster and Chrlstmas.
All people In the communSty are welcome at any or all of gur $ervl¢es, Our Churchwardens welcome all
vls5tors to the church at each servlce, and any stran8ers are 8lven any help or welcome they need to feel
comfortgble our congregatlon.
Communlty Outr••ch
Each Sunday mornlnB between September and May* there Is a Sunday School durlng our maSn mornln8
servlce, from 11am to 12pm. Th15 Is normally held In the Parlsh Hall, located dlrectly acr055 the road from
the Church bulldSng. Our ¢hlldren are alway5 present durln8 the maln 5ervlce- elther at the start of Mornln8
Prayer. or at the end of Holy Communlon. Th1515 open to all chlldren aged 3 to IS, both parlshloners and
others. Our Sunday School chlldren regularly asslst at the Famlly setvlce each month, perform drama,
readln85 and 51ng at the Chrlstmas NatSv5ty setvlce. They also provlde drama and son8s for the annual
prlze-8lvSng servlce In Mavljune. The senlor clas$111-15 years) study Blble passenges each week.
Theress a weekly Bowls Club who meet In the Parlsh Hall, or o¢calonally travel to other venues for matches.
It Is open to all, and currently has members from 16- 80 year5 Qld, They host local competltlons wlthln the
club and compete Bs part of the local Bowls League.
The Glrls, Frlendly Soclety meet weekly on a Wednesday evenlng for youn8 glr15 aged over 3 years and Is ran
by members of the church. All are welcome, whether from aur own parlsh or not.
There Is H forthnl8htly Bible Study evenln8 held Sn the Par15h Hall, at whSch a small 8roup gather to look at
dlfference subSects and passa8es wlthSn the Blble,
Thls Is Intended to enrlch Dur understandln8 of the
holy scrSptures.
The parlsh has a Pirlsh Hall whl¢h Is also avallable to the communlty for Informal use, The Parlsh H8111$
avallable for tea5 follDw5n8 funerals, weddln85 etc.
The Mothers, Unlon meet on the first Wednesday evenln8 of each Month, invitln8 speakers to come and
speak and/or demonstrate a subject of thelr cholce. Thls is open to all women and they reB¢Jlarly hold
Vlgltor Evenln8S" to encourage a wlder cornmunlty InvolvemenL both men and women,
The parish has an extenslve plan of fundralsln8 events planned to ralse funds towards the renovatlon
and repalr of the parlsh church. These events wlll ianBe from bag packlng In local supermarkets, to
sponsared walk5, and many other cornmunSty events throughout the year.
Our parish contlnues to stream our main services on our Facebcok page (Aghavea Parish) with regularly
getting over 500 views weekly to an audSence that now includes local parlshloners and regular vlewers
from USA, Pakistan, India, PhlllSpSnes, Uganda, Kenya and Nlgerla.
Whlle the ¢ovid 19 restrlctlons have been Ilfted, we are stlll mlndful of the risk of a re-occurance. and will
comply with any restrictions or regulations if they are re-introduced.

Public Benefit
The Charitable purpose of Aghavea Parish is the advancement of reli8ion. This is achieved through Chrlstlan
witness and outreach, and delivered through the provision of publlc worshSp and our ongoing outreach
programme a5 described above.
Fln4nclal Revlew
The Parlsh In¢ome for the year was £106956 wlth o%Jtgoln8$ of £91773 resullln8 In a surplu5 of £15183. The
maln sources of Income are from cur free wlll offerlng donatSons.
The Trustee5' PDllcy on holdlng reserves Ss to retaln 5urplu5 unrestrlcted funds for any unexpected major
malntenance problems and for the on-8oln8 runnln8 Costs of the Parlsh. The bank balances at 31st Oecember
2022 were £54621.

The Trustees have revlewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satlsfled that there are adequate
funds In place to ensure that the parlsh can contlnue Its actlvltles and the flnanclal statement for the
year ended 31 December 2022 can be slined off as a 8oln8 concern.

The Select Vestry members are the Charlty Trustees.
R•crultm•nt and Appolntm•nt of S•lect Vestry ITrustee$l
All members of the Church of Ireland who are over the age of 18 and are ellher resldent In the parlsh
or Ilve elsewhere but have beert accustomed members of the congregatlon for at least three month5,
may re8lster as members of the 8eneTal vestry of the parlsh, allowlng them to attenil and vote at
meetlngs of the general vestry and to Stand for elert5on to the select vestry. MeetSn8s of the gener?1
vestry are held at least once a year. The select vestry Is elected as part of thls general vestry meetlnl.
The Select Vestry wlll hold thelr p051tlons for a perlod of one year. Selert Vestry members may be
re-elected anntsally and there Is no Ilmlt an the number of terms whSch may be served,
Pay and ramun•r•tlon
A rector serves the parlsh where he Is pald a stlpend, lo¢omotory allowance and offlce expenses Sn
accordance wSth flgures approved by the General Syncd of the Church of Ireland. The proportlon pald
by A8havea parlsh Is by way of assessment through the Dlocese of Clogher.
QrBanlsatlonal Structure
The Select Vestry Is responslble for the day.to-day mana8ement of the ParSsh, The Selert Vestry conslsts
of the members of the cler8y seThlng In the parlsh, the church wardens, the 8lebe wardens and 8enerally
not more than ￿e1ve other members of the general vestry elected at the Easter Vestry, thls year held
In September.
The select vestry 15 chalred by the Incumbent or other member of the cler8y officlatSng In the parish.
Select Vestry members are responslble for maklng decislons on matters of general con¢ern and
importance to the parish including de¢idinE how parish funds are to be applSed.
The Select Vestry meets at times fixed by the members or by the dSoce5an synod. Special meetings may
be Convened at any time by the chaSrperson or the churchwardens. In 2022 the Select Vestry met 8 times
during the year and the average attendance was 80%.

Compllance with Publlc Benefit
The Parish has given careful consideratlon to the Charlty Commlsslon for Northern Ireland's ¥uldance
on PLtbll¢ benefit to ensure that the artlvltles entered Into durin8 the year have helped to achleve the
Parlsh'5 oblective5 and artivlties, as well as Providing public benefit.

The Trustees are respon51ble frjr preparlng the Tru5tee5' Report and the statement of Recelpts and
Payments and statement of Assets and Llabllltles In accordance wlth appllcable Ihw and re8ulotlons.

Trustees to prepare a statement of Recelpts and Payments and a statement of Assets and Llabllltles
