The Klrk Session
The charity trustees of the congregation are the membÈrs of it5 Kirk Sesslon. Underthe congre8ation's governlng document,
The Code, the book of the constitution and govefnment of the Pre5byteri3n Church in Ireland. the KlrkSe5slon seeks to watch
over and promote the spirltual Interest of the congregation and of person5 not connected with any congregation who are
wlthln Its bounds. It ensures pastoral care15 in place in the Cong￿&ation and seeks to further the contributlon of the Church
to Chrlstian witness and service in the local commurtity. The Kirk Session has delegated tts its Congregational Commlttee the
temporal affalrs of the congregation Includlng administering all funds and property belon8ing to the congregatlon. Members
of the Klrk Sesslon are ex.officio members of the Congre8ational Committee.
The Klrk Sèsslon consists of the ordalned mlnister and the rulln8 elders of the congregations. All members are entitled to
propose. speaL and exerc15e equal votes at rneetings, except that the Moderator, the mlnlstefs In active duty in the
congregatlon, has no deliberative but only a castin8 Vote.
Stated meetlngs of the Kirk session are held at least twice in each year.
To be chosen for the offlce of the eldershlp in the con8reeatlon a person must be a voting member and a regular attendant
on its ordlnances. The selection of those proposed to be called to the offlce can be either by the congregatlon or by the Kirk
Session. Members are elected rf they obtain Imo-thlrds of those who vote.
Prnsbytery
Under the Presbyterian Church in Ireland form of governance the corporats oVerS￿ht of a congregatlon Is the responsibility
of a Presbytery whith superintends 8ener?Ily the splrltual and temporal affairs of the congregations asslgned to It by the
Genera5 Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. 1st Portglenone Presbyterlan Church has been assigned to the
Presbytery of Ballymena of the Presbytèrian Church In Iieland. The membershlp of the Presbytery consists mainly of the
actlve ministers of congregations a551gned to It by the General Assemblyi mlnsters who have ￿tIred from actlve duty and an
elder appolnted by the Klrk Sesslon of each con8regation.
The General Assernbly
The General Assembly Is the supreme court of the Church, representlng In one body the whole Church and acting as its
supreme le8islatlve, admlnlstratlon and judicial authority. in dealing with all matters brought before It. The General Assembly
Is normally constltuted during thÈ first week In June for worshlp and to conduct Its buslness. At the end of business. it 15
dissolved. The membershlp of the General Assembly consists mainly of the actlve mlnlsters of each congregatlon, retlfed
minster$ and a representatwe elder appolnted by the Klfk Sesslon of each congregation.
DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
1st Portglenone Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterlan Church In Ireland. The Presbyterian church in
Ireland, as a Reformed Church wlthin the wider body of Christ is grounded In the Scrlptures and exists to love and honour
God through faith in His Son and by the power of HIS Splrlt. and to enable her members to play their part In fulfiiiing God's
misslon to our world.
The congregation's mission purpose Is ￿0 glorlfy God". This is the motive which underglrds everything that we do....

He worthy. but it 15 His absolute rightto be worshlpped by all HIS creatures. Furthermo￿, it is His creatures. highest

We seek to glorlfy God through various channels - Our Worshlp. our Witness. our Work. our War. our Watching, and our
Warmth. These areas are not distinct and separate- rather they overlap and Inter-relate fully with each other. However.
they are LFseful headin85 under which to conslder our prKirltles. Intentions. and direttions.
In all these areas we seek. Supremely, to be thoroughly blbllcal- guided not by the traditiofts of men. bLtt by the Word of
God, God's wiitten Word is our absolute standard- both the undergirding 8uidance and the final authorlty In all we do as
the Church in this place.
AcnvinES AND OBJECTIVES
The congregatlon meets for worship every Sunday and visitors are welcome to join. The S3cramÈnt of the Lords Supper Is
observed on Several occaslons during the year and all those who have been baptlsed and who have made a professlon of
falth In the Lord Jesus Christ are admltted to the Lords Supper. The con8fegation holds regular bible study meetings and
has a wide range of organlsatlons includlng

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Worshlp and prayer
The ¢ongregation normally meets for worshlp each Sunday at 12.00 noon Jnd 7,00 p,m. Durlng the week the 8ible Study
provldes an opportunlty for members to meet together for feltowshlp. to study the scrlptures and for a time of prayer.
As well as our re8ular servlces durin8 the yeai we acknowledged God5 glft of new life at two Sacraments of Baptism, we
conducted four marrlage services and gave thanks for faithful servlces and sought to comfort those who had been bereaved
durlng the year.
At 31 December 2022 there were 270 communicant members and 330 families connected wlth the congregation.
The average weekly attendance at mornlng worshlp Is 300.
Pastoral care
Members of the congregation who are unalAe to attend cl)urch due to 5Kkness or age are vlsited on a regular basls by the
mlnlster, elders or by one of the con8re8atlon's pastoral visitor&
Mlsslon and outreath
At a local level the congregation reaches out into the communlty through the varlous church organisations, specific outreach
events and the lived-out Ilves of the members.
The con8re8atlon supports the United Appeal foi Mission which Is a central fund of the Presbyterlart Church In Ireland. This
fund enables congregations to support the wlder mission of the denomination and to do mlsslon and outreach on
denomlnatlonal basis beyond whatthe congregatlon could (h) on its own. The United Appeal Fund provides financlal support
for mls51on personnel at home and overseas, a55iSt5 congregations with the deploymentof locally based staff, enablès chuich
plantin8, provide5 grant support for the upkeep of church premises. assist with the running costs of Unlon Theological
College, the Church'5 training college for minlstry students, and financially supports congregatlon in the area5 of worshlp.

Presbytery
The congregatlon was represented atthe regular meetings of Pre$b￿ry byour mlnlster ènd one of the elders. Thls provides
an important link between the congregatlons and the wtder struttures of the church.
General *issembly
The minSster and one of our elders were nominated to attend the meetlng of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian
Church in Ireland held in Assembly Buildlngs. 8elfast. Thls meeting takes place In June.
Property
There were no major repalrs or refurbishment projects during the year.
Organisatlons
Sunday School normally meets on Sunday morn7￿$. Appfoxlmately 70 children attend for Blble teaching and worshlp.
Youth Fellowshlp meets on Sunday evenings. Approxlmately 20 teenagers attend for Bible tea¢hln& fellowship, and worshlp,
Boy5, BrLqade meet5 on Thursday and Frlday evenin8s. Approxlmately 90 children and teena8ers attend for sports, activities
nd Blble teaching.
Glrls. Brigade meets on Tuesday evenlngs. Approximately 90 chlldren and teenagers attend for crafts, actfvltles, and Bible
teachin8.
Chlldren's Church meets on Sunday mornin85. Approxlmately 20 children attend for Blble teaching.
Presbyterlan Women meets monthly on Thursday evenings. Approxlmately 40 women attend for Blble teachlng. fellowshlp,
and worshlp.
Men's Mlnlstry meets from tlme to tlme foi outin8s, actlvltles, etc.
Volunteers
The Trustees wish to acknowledge their deep appreclatlon of those who give freely of thelr tlme by servlng on committee5
and helping wlth organlsatlons and othèr church activltles.
PLIBLIC BENEFITSTATEMENT
The Presbyterian Church In Ireland meets the public beneflt requirement by providing beneftt to Its members and the general
public by maklng known the Christian Gospel of the Loid Jesus Christ through the advancement of reli8ion.
The dlrect benefit5 which flow from the purposes of the Church Include the Eaining of an understandlng In Chrlstlan beliefs
as set out in the Bible and in the Church's subordlnate standards IthÈ Westminster Confesslon of Faith and the Shorter and
Larger Catechisms) leading to spiritual and moral development and opportunities for response to Blble teaching. In turn, this
framewofk leads to practlcal eXp￿ssIonS of Chri5tlan bellefs and standards in the local cornmunlty such as through the care
of those In need lincludlng the slck. disabled and bereaved).
Generally. the above benefits are delive¥ed locally by congregations and thelr members. or ère facilitated through
presbyteries or are orEanised and delivered centrally. Local delivery Is facilitated by central resources in almost all cases.
Public acce55 is made known through the use of noticeboards, printed material, press advertisement. websites, and soclal
medla or In other ways.
The benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluatlon of the seNtces and informal and ad-hoc feedback from members,
their famllles. and members of the public.

beneflclaiies of this purpose are member5. theirfamilies. Other individuals that the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Is in dlrett
and indirett contatt with. the communlty in which pastoral servlces are provided and other communltles throughout
Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and worldwide which benefit from our engagement with and support for both
Christian and other secular organisations, charltles. and individual members of the public.
The Klrk Sesslon has had regard to the Charity Commisslons publlc benefit requirement statutory guldance.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The ttjngregatlon's maln source of incorne Is members. contributions through the Weekly Freewill Offerlng, who donated a

Total Income of the congregatlon during the year was £309.377. compared to £305,702 In the pwlous year.
Totsl expendlture Increased from £225.981 In 2021 to E262,400 in 2022.
RESPONSIBILITIES IN RESPEcf OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
The Trustees are responslble for preparlng Annual Report and the ftnanclal statements in accordance wlth appllcable law
and Unlted Kingdom Generally Accepted Accountin8 Prartice.
The Trustee5 are requlred to prepare financlal statements for each flnanclal year which give a true and falr vlew of the state
of affalrs of the con8regations and the flnancial activities forthat year. In p￿parIng the flnanclal statements the Trustees are
requlred to:

prepare the flnanclal ststements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Funds will
continue in operation.

GOING CONCERN
The activities of the congregatlon are dependent on on8oin8contributbons from Its members. The Trustees are of the opinion
that the congregation has sufflclent resources at the date of approval of these flnanclal statements to meet commitments
whlch wlll arlse In the year from the date of slgning this report and subjett to the tontinuing support from members to fund
on an ongolng basls the con8re8ation's current actlvltles and other flnandal commltments.

A revlew of major ri5k5 has been undertaken bytheTrusteesand systems and procedures Implemented to manage identifièd
risks. The prineipal risks are in relation to the likelihood of reputstional damage and financial risks a5SOCiated with the
expectatlon of ongoing financial support from members. These risks are mltlgated by the Trustees. and the Congre8ational
Committee. regularly monitoring the various activities of the congregation at stated meetin8s and by encouraglt)8 members
in their regular gfvlng.
