A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

Our unit had 24 consistent Brownies during the period of 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022. During the year, Brownies took part in several activities to gain badges such as Chinese New Year, Be Well Theme Award, Mindfulness and Baking badges. These badges enhanced the girls’ teamwork and communication skills alongside developing their creativity and self-confidence. Brownies took part in Valentine’s crafts, Easter crafts, Mother’s Day crafts and Christmas Crafts during our Tuesday evenings. Girls took part in a series of activities outside in the summer months while the weather was good which consisted of a trip to the park, ice cream trip, rounders, outdoor cooking and other outdoor fun. We had Calm for Kids visit the Brownies for 3 weeks to allow them to complete their Mindfulness badge as part of their “Be Well” theme award. Our final event before the summer concluded with a joint BBQ between Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section across the District where we had bouncy castles before breaking up for the holidays. This was in conjunction with the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. In September, girls continued with a new award “Express Myself” where they had to complete 3 hours 30 minutes of Unit Meeting Activities. Girls completed their Stage 2 Innovate Skills Builder badge and got the chance to use their innovative skills to build towers and build different structures using spaghetti and marshmallows to see how sturdy they are. Brownies completed their baking interest to allow them to gain their theme award where they had to design their own stories and create them. Brownies took part in several Christmas crafts and concluded for Christmas with making cards and having Glitterbug create slime and reindeer food then held a party with Rainbows and Brownies. There was no private benefit flowing from the purpose and there is no harm flowing from the purpose of Girlguiding Ulster.
