FIRST KILRAUGHTS CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYtERIAN CHURCH IN IRELAND NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS 31 DECEMBER 2024 ACCOUNTING POLICIES BASIS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS As the total income of the congregation is le55 than £250,000 the congregation have elected in accordance with the provision in The Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regu lations (Northern Ireland) 2015 to prepare its accounts on a receipts and payments basis. FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment funds are funds, the capital of which must be retained either permanently or at the congregation's discretion; the income derived from the endowment is to be used either as restricted or unrestricted income funds depending upon the purpose for which the endowment was established in the first place. Restricted funds comprise la} income from endowments which is to be expended only on the restricted pu rposes intended by the donor and Ibl revenue donations or grants for a specif ic congregational activity intended by the donor. Where these f unds have unspent bala nces, interest on their pooled investment is apportioned to the ind ividual fu nds on an average balance basis. Unrestricted funds are income funds which are to be spent on the congregation's general purposes. Designated fund5 are Beneral funds set aside by the congregation for use in the future. FIRST KILRAUGHTS CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN IRELAND NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS 31 DECEMBER 2024 FIXED ASSETS The congregation owns the church building, church hall, the stables hall and the associated f ixtures, fittings, plant and machinery situated at 56 Moyan Road, Ballymoney. These have a combined insurance value of £3,785,130 {2023 £3,604,886). Since 1887 the Congregation hold in trust the Manse, outbuildings and farm situated at Topp Road, Ballymoney, for the use of the Congregation while the minister resides in the Manse. FIRST KILRAUGHTS CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYfERIAN CHURCH IN IRELAND NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS 31 DECEMBER 2024 11 RELATED PARTY TRANSACTIONS One of the trustees, the minister of the congregation received remuneration of £27,011 and expenses of £4,926 for acting in that capacity. Pension contributions of £6,483 were paid by the congregation in respect of the minister to the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Pension Scheme12009). One of the trustees, the church organist and choir master of the congregation received remuneration of £3,900 for acting in that capacity, None of the other trustees received any remuneration or expenses during the year in connection with their duties. During the year the congregation contributed the following amounts to Funds of the General Assem bly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland a sepa rate cha rity £17,577 for congregational assessments £6,760 towards the United Appeal There were no other related party transaction5. 18
