The Klrk Session
The charity trustees of the congregatlon are the members of lis Kirk Session. Under the congregation's Bovernlng
document, The Code, the book of the constitutlon and government of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, the Klrk Sesslo
seeks to watch over and promote the spiritual interest of the congregation and of persons not connÈtted with any
tongregation who are withln Its bounds. It ensures pastoral Ca￿ is in place In the congregation and seeks to further the
contribution of the Church to Christian wltness and service in the local community. The Kirk Sessions has delegated to Its
Congregational Commlttee thÈ tsrnporal affairs of the congregation includin8 admlnlsterlng all fvnds and property
belongiftg to the congregation. Members of the Kirk Session a￿ ex-officio members of the Congregational Commlttee.
The Kirk 5e55lon conslsts of the ordalned mifiister and the wllng elders of the cOng￿gatIons. All members are entitled to
propose, speak and exerclse equal votes at meetings, except that the Moderator, the mlnlsters In actlve duty In the
congregation, has no dellberative but only a castlng vote.
Stated meetlngs of the Kirk sesslon are held at least four tlmes In ea¢h year or as approprlate.
To be chosen for the offlce of the eldershlp In the congregation a person must be a voting member and a regular attendant
on Its ordlnances. The selectlon of those proposÈd to be called to the offlce can be either by the congie8ation or by the
Klrk Sesslon. Members are elected If they obtain one-thlrd of those who vote.
Presbytery
Under the Presbyterlan Church In Ireland form of govemance the corporate overslght of a congregatlon Is the
respon51blllty of a Presbytery which 5uperfntends generally the splrltual and temporal affairs of the congregatlons asslgned
to it by the General Assembly of the Presbyterlan Church In Ireland. Der¥ock congregatlon of the Presbyterian Church has
been as51gned to the ROUTE Presbytery of the Presbyterlan Church in Ireland. The membershlp of the Presbytery consists
malnly of the actlve ministers of congregatlons assignèd to it by the General Assembly. mlnster5 who have retired from
actlve duty and an elder appolnted by the Klrk Session of the congregatlon.
The General Assembly
The General Assembly is the supreme court of the Church, representing in one body the whole Church and actlng as Its
supreme leg151atlve, admlnlstfatlon and judicial outhoflty. In deallng wlth all matters brought before it. The General
Assembly Is normally constituted during the first week In June for worship and to conduct its business. At the end of
buslne55, It Is dlssolved. The membership of the General Assembly consists mainly of the actwe rninisters of each
congregation, retlred mlnsters and a representatlve elder appolnted by the Klrk Session of each congiegation.

ACTiwnES AND OBJECTIVES
The congregatlon meets for worshlp every Sunday and vlsitors are welcome to join. The Sacrament of thÈ Lords Supper Is
observed on at least 3 occa51ons durln8 the year and all those who have been baptlsed and who have made a professlon of
falth In the Lord Jesus Chrlst are admitted to the Lord'5 Supper. The con8fe8atlon holds ￿gUlar bible study meetlngs and

Worshlp and prayer
The con8re8ation normally meets for worshlp each Sunday at 11.30am, Ourln8 the week thÈ Bible Study provldes an
opportunity for members to meet together for fellowship. to study the scrlptures and for a time of prayer.
As wèll as our regular servlces durin8 the year we conducted 2 baptismal seThice and sought to comfort those who had
been bereaved durlng the year.
At 31 December 2023 therÈ wÉre 154 communlcant members and 136 famllie5 connected wlth the congregation, The
average week attendance at mornlng wotship is 80.
Pastoral (are
Members of the congregatlon who are unable to attend church due to slckne55 or age are vislted on a re8Ltlar basls by the
minister, elders or by one of the congre8ation's pastoral vlsitors. The Church elders seek to vlslt the congre£atSon at least
twlts a year.
M15slon and outreach
All foods 8ivÈn at harvest tlme were donated to Ballymoney Food Bank. Annual Carol servlce collection went to C.E.F,
Andrew Mccaw who is Irainlng to be a youth leader and church expen5e5. Two Ugondon children are 5UPPOrted each
month by the Sunday School children, We also SVPPOrt Tear Fund each year through a collection and Tèar Fund lunch. A
special service and barbeque was held forthe King's Coronation.
The con8regation supports the Unlted Appeal for Mission which 15 a centTal fund of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Thi5
fund enables congregations to support the wider mlsslon of the denominatlon and to do misslon and outreach on a
denomlnatlonal basls beyond what the congregation could do on its own. The United Appeal Fund provldes flnanclal
support for mlsslon personnel at home and overseas, asslsts con8re8ations with the deployment of locally based staff,
enables church plantln& provides grnnt support forthe upkeep of church premlses. assist with the runnlng costs of Unlon

Presbytery
The congregatlon was represented at the regular meetin85 of Presbytery by our mlnlster and Mr Roy IrwSn. the
representative elder. This provldes an importont Ilnk between the congregations and the wlder structure5 of the church.
Property
The rnanse was occupled by our current mlnlster.
Organlsatltsns
Sunday school meets during oui mornin8 ser¥lce and caters for prlmary school aged children. Thls year we had a number
of member5 who tsught in the Sunday school. It meets at 11:30 am from September-Jurte. We currently have 27 chlldren
registered.
Our Youth Fellowship meets every fortnlght and attended jolned events with other local churches.
Our Youth club (Blast} meets every Friday nlght wlth 80 children reglstered mostfy from the vlllage of Dervock.
Our church contlnues trj be involved In providln8 for the needs of our congregatlon and its surroundlng communlty. WÈ
have done thls through the followlng actlvlties.. -
Shlne for mums and tots was run on a Wednesday mornln8 from 10am-12noon. Chlldren enjoy an age-approprlate
programme. This actlvlty Is attended by people from our con8regatlon, our cornmunlty and outside our communlty. This
show5 that we aim to provlde attlvbties for the communlty from a Christian perspertlve.
Our Midweek Fellowshlp meets every Wednesday evenlng at 7.30pm from September-may. Led by the mlnlster, members
of the congregatlon have a time of blNe study and prayer.
Wednesday Afternoon Fellowshlp meets on the second Wednesday of every nb)nth (September- Mayl and15 attended by a
good number of people from our con8re8atlon and community. The programme Is normally quite eclectic. coverlng local
hlstory, music, mis51onailes but we were unable to have a trip at the end of the year. There Is a small committee of
members who I￿ respon51ble for putting together the pro8ramme for thls.
Also on Thursdoy evenlngs. once a month our Presbyterian Women IPWI group meets from 7.30-9.,00pm. From October-
March the ladies follow a programme that is complled by the central PW committee. As well 35 thls. the ladles normally
enloy a Christmas dlnner locally. Mainly members of our own congregation attend thls meetlng. The ladies have a PW
servlce once a year. which anyone Is welcome to attend.
Our Crafts and Chat met each thlrd Thursday of the month. Led by a church mernber, a tlme of craft, conversation and
short epilogue led by a vlsltlng speaker. A cup of tea followed.
Every Igt SLFnday of the month we have a mlsstorfs café at 6:30 pm. Representatives from local m1551onary organisations
join us and Share about their work- organisations have Included Asla-link. the Belfast City Mlsslon, EMF, 8lble Soclety and
other5. Members enloy hearing about the work of their organisations and asklng questlons of those that corne. Mernber5
also glve a contribution towards the work of the organlsatlons.

PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT
The P￿SbYterlan Church in Ireland meets the publk benefit requirement by providing benefit to its members and the
general publlc by making known the Christian Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through the advancement of rellgion.
The direct benefft5 which flow from the purposes of the Church Include thÈ gainln8 of an understandlng In Christian bellefs
as set out in the Blble and in the Church's subordinate stsndards (the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Shorter and
Larger Catechlsmsl leading to splrttual and rnoral development and opportunltle5 for response to Bible teachlng. In turn.
this framework leads to prartical expressions of Chri5tion beliefs and stsndards In the local community such as through thÈ
care of those in need lincluding the disabled, and bereaved).
Generally, the above benefits are delSvered locally by wngregatlons and their members or are facilitated through
presbyterles or are organlsed and dellvered centrally. Local dellvery Is facilttated by cèntral resources In almost all cases.
Public access Is made known through the use of noticeboards. prlnted material. press advert15ement. websites, and social
medla or in other ways.
The beneflts are demonstrated through regular evaluatlon of the services and informal and ad-hoc feedback from
member5, thelr famllies. and members of the publi¢.
The purpose doès not lead to harm. The only prlvate benefit flowing from our purpose Is related to Minlsters. Misslonarles,
Deaconesses. Irish Misslon workers and Lay 4ents who recefve benefits as 8 ￿$vIt of their holdlng offlce or employment.
However, thls Is Incldentsl and necessary in order to further our charitable wrp05e. There are no other private benefits.
The beneficiaries of thls purpose are members, thelr famllbes, other individuals that the Pre5byterlan Church in Ireland is In
dlre¢t and Indlrect contact with, thè cornmunmy In whlch pastoral seNl¢es are provlded and other communities throughout
Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and worldwide which benefit from our engagement with and support for both
Christian and other secular or8anlsatlons, charitles, and individual members of the publlc.
The Kirk Sesslon has had regard to the Charty Commlsslons Publlc benefit requirement ststutory 8uldan¢e.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The cOng￿EatIon'S main source of Income Ss rnemberf contrfjbutlons through the Weekly Freewlll Offerlng. There were
109 contrlbutors durlng the year1111 in prevlou5 year, 20221 donatlng a total of £55,3861£54,893 in prevlous year, 20221
Total Income of the con8re8ation durlng the year was £114,629. cOMpa￿d to £113,839 In the prevlous year.
Total expenses of the congregation during thÈ year were £102.199. compared to £104,082 in the previous year.

Charitiès Act (Northern Ireland) 208 to prepare a recelpts and payment account and a ststement of assets and Ilabllltles.

congregatlon's transactlons and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any tlme Fts flnanclal posltlon. They a￿ also
responslble for safeguarding the assets of the congregation and hence for tsklng reasonable steps for the preventlon and
