STRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT
The Klrk Session
The charity trustee5 of the congre8atlon are the membersof its Kirk Session. Under the congregatlon's governin8 document,
The Code, the book of the constttution and government of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, the Klrk Session seeks to watch
over and promote the spiritual interest of the congregation and of persons not connetted with any Cong￿gatIOn who are
within Its bounds. It ensures pastoral care is in place in the con8regation and seeks to further the contributlon of the Church
to Chrlstian wltness and service Sn the local community- The Kirk Session has delegated to its Con8regatlonal Commlttee the
temporal affalrs of the coneregation Including administerlng all fundsand property belorbging to the congregation. Members
of the Klrk Sesslon are ex-officio members of the Congregatlonal Commlttee.
The Kirk Session conslsts of the ordalned min¢ster and the rullng elders of the con8regatlons. All members are entitled to
propose, speak, and exercise equal votes at rneetlngs. except that the Moderator, the ministers In active duty in the
congre8ation. has no dellberative but onty a castin8 Vote.
To be chosen for the offlce ol the eldership In the con8regatlon a person must be a votin8 member and a regular attendant
on its ordinances. The selection of those proposed to be called to the offlce can be etther by the con8re8atlon or by the Klrk
Session. Members are elected If they obtaln two-thirds of those who vote.
Presbytery
Under the Presbyterian Church in Ireland form of governance the corporate oversight of a congregatlon is the responslblllty
of a Piesbytery which superintends generally the spiritual and temporal affairs of the congregations asslgned to It by the
General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Brookslde ¢ongregatlon of the Presbyterian Church has been
asslgned to the Ballymena Presbytery of the P￿$bYterian Church in Ireland. The membershlp of the Presbytery conslsts
malnlyof the active minlsters of congregations asslEned to it by the General Assembly. minsters who have retlred from actlve
duty and an elder appolnted by the Klrk se￿lOn of each congregation.
The General A55embly
The General Assembly is the supreme court ot the Chur¢h, representing in one body the whole Church and actln8 as its
supreme leglslatlve. admlnistration and judicial authority, in deallng with all matters brought before it. The General Assembly
met In 2022 for foLtr days in June for worshlp and to conduct its buslness. At the end of business, it is dissolved, The
membershlp of the General Assembly conslsts mainly of the active mlnlsiers of each con8re8ation, retlied minsters and a
representative elder appointed by the Kirk Sesslon of each congregatlon.
DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
The charitable puipose of the con8regatlon is the advancement of feligion.
Brookslde congregation of the Presbyterlan Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The Presbyterlan
Chuich in Ireland, as a Reformed Church within the wlder body of Christ is grounded in the Scripture5 and exists to love and
honotlr God through faith In His Son and by the power of HIS Spirit. and to enable her members to play their part in fulfllllng
God's mI￿10n to our world.
The conEregations mlsslon purpose is to fulfil Its great responsibility to be Invotved in the great commlssion in bringlng the
Gospel to all nations. Blblical preachln8 means we believe that at the centre of seeing the Gospel advance has to be the
teachin8 of God's word and player. We seek for thls to take place In wblic worship, church organlsatlons and personal

we understand the Bible teaches on key matters of Christlan faith and practice.

The congregation meets for worship every Sunday and visitors are welcome to join. The Sacrament of the. Lords Supper Is
obseNed on three occasions durlng the yèar and all those who have been baptlsed and who have made a professlon of faith

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Worshlp and praytr
From January to June the con8re8ation met for Services of worshlp at 11-.30am and 6-.15prn each Sunday. From July to
December the Evening Servke at 6-15prn was unlted with Flrst Aho8hill and Trlnlty and rotated around the three church
bulldin85.
During the week. the Midweek Bible Study Pfovides an opportunlty for members to meet toeether for fellowshlp, to study
the scriptures and for a time of prayer.
The sacrament of the Lord'5 Supper was ObSep￿d in January* May. and September. No marriage seryices were conducted.
BLbt 12 funeral services were conducted.
At 31 December 2022 there were 189 commun￿ant members and 245 families connected with the congregation. The
average weekly attendance at morning worship was approximately 170. The averago evening servlce attendance was
approximately 90 untll June and then 150 with the joint serv￿.

Pastoral ore
Each elder is asslgned a distrlct to ¥isit the members of the congregation withln It to supplement the vislts by tho minlster.
A group of women also visit elderly people who are housebound or in a nursing home. During the pandemlc a buddy system
was Initiated whereby elders, committee fflen and others kept In touch with the elderly and thoso living by themselves. CDS
of services are also dellvered. and services Livestreamed lor those not able to attend.
Mission and outreach
At a local level the congregation continues to seek to reach out into the community through speclal services. the church
organisatlons and the summer holiday blble club.
Through our support of mlssion organisations Brookslde Congfegation has worked for the public benefit of people across the
world by making donations to the following external missions and agencies which exlst to support people's spirltual,
educational, ènd physical needs-
Acre Gospel Mission. Arab World Ministries. Asha, Internatlonal Mission to the Jewlsh People. Coachlng4Chiist, European
Mlsslonary Fellowshlpj Latin Link, Mlsslon Africa, OMF Intefnational. Frlends of VisPa. The Chrlstlan Institute, Tear Fund.
Belfast City Misslon, Release Internatlonal and Open Doors.
The congregation supports the Unlted Appeal for Mission which is a central fund of the Presbyterlan Church in Ireland. This
fund enables congie8ations to support the wider mlssion of the denomination and to do mlsslon and outreach on a
denomlnational basis beyond what the congregation could do on its own. The Unlted Appeal Fund provldes financial support
for mlsslon personnel at homeand overseas, a55iSts congre8ètions with the deploymentof locally based staff, enables church
plantin& piovides grant support for the upkeep of church premises. assist with the runnlng costs of Union Theologlcal
Collège, the Church's trainlng college for mlnlstry students, and flnancially support5 congregatlon in the areas of worship,
discipleship. global mission, outreach, leadeishlp. and pastoral care.
Presbytery
The congregatlon was represented at the regular meetings of Presbytery by our ministsT and one of the elders. Thls provldes
an Important link between the congre8atlons and the wider structures of the church.
General A5$6mbly
The mlnlster and one of our elders were nomlnated to attend the meetln8 of the General Assembly of the Presbyterlan
Church In Ireland held In Assembly Buildings. Belfast in June.

Theie was some electrlcal and 8eneral malntenance work undertaken.
Oiganlsations
Sunday School- met on Sunday mornlnBS at 10-15am for praise and 8ible teachlng in small groups. There were 23 children
on the roll In 2022 with an average attendance of 18.
Bible Class- met on Sunday at 10'.15am for teachlng for youn8 people aged 13 and over with an average attendance of 12.
Good News Club- children left during services for Inter-active teachlng. Average attendance in 2022 was 6.
Vouth Fellow5hip- meets on Sunday evenings after the evening seTrice for young people of secondary school age and older.
They meet for praise, Bible Studies. listen to speakers and chat. Average attendance In 2022 was approximately 30 young
people.
Youth Club- met on Saturday nights from 7.00- 9-OOprn for young people of secondary school age. There were 25 young
people on the roll in 2022 wlth an average attendance of 12.
Pafents and Toddlers - met on Friday momlngs from IO=OOam to 11:30am. There were on avera8e of 30 adults and 40
children.

Luncheon Fellowshlp~ dld not meet in 2022.
Glrls. Brigade- meets weekly on Tuesday evenings. GB is for girls aged 3-18 and is divided into four sectlons dependlng on
age called Explorers. Company. and Brigader Sectlons. In 2022. there were 81 girls on the roll with an average attendance of
67. The majority of these girls do not belong to arookside church.
6oys' Brlgade - Is for boy5 aged 4-18 and has three sections Anchor Boys. Junior. and Company SÈttion. The Anchor Boys
meet on Monday nights and the Junior and Company Sections on Friday nights. The number of boys on the roll from when
the BB recommenced In September 2021 were 5 Anchor Boys, 12 Juniors and 15 In the Company Section.
Presbyterlan Women- met once a month to allow womer) to meet together, for soclal en8a8ement and to Ilsten to speakers.
The average attendance In 2022 was 42.
Women's Prayer MeetlnE- takes place once a month on Thursday nights and glves an opportunlty for women to teach God's
word to other women and to play for the need5 of the congregatlon. community, and missionaries. The average attendance
was 16.
Men's Prayer Meetln8- took place once a month on Wednesday evenings and once a month on Fridays. The elders share
God's word before a time of prayer focuslng partlcularly on the needs of men in our congregatlon and community. The
average attendance in 2022 was 18.
Choir- met to lead the pralse on Sundays and provide anthems at Easter, HaNe5t and Christmas.
Pralse Group conslsts of musicians and sln8ers who help lead the pralse once a month wlth a focus on partlcularly
contempofary praise.
8rook Café- met on the first Thursday of the month to seNe food. have a tlme of conversatlon and Bible teaching. Avera8e
attendance was 8.
Volunte¢rs
The Trustees wlsh to acknowledge their deep appreciation of the many volunteers who give freely of their time by serving
on commlttees and helplng wlth or8anlsations and other church activities.

Deaconesses, Irish Mission workers and Lay Agents who receive benefits as a result of their holdin8 off ice or employment.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEE RESPONSIBIIITIES
The Trustees are responsible for preparing ihe annual report and the linancial statements of the Cong￿81t10n in accordance
wlth appllcable law and generally accepted accounting practice.
As the conEregatlon's total income doe5 not exceed £250.000. the Trustee5 have e￿cted under Sertion 64131 of the ChaTltie5
Act INorthern Ireland) 2008 to prepare a recelpts and payment account and a statement of assets and11?bllltSes.
The Trustees are responsible for keepin8 adequate accounting records that ao suffttient to show and explain tfre
congregation's tran50Ctions and disclose with reasonable accuracyat any time sts flnanclal posltlon. They are also responslble
for safeguarding the assets of the congregatlon and hence for taklng reasonable steps for the preventlon and detectlon of
fraud and other irregularities.
