Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance wlth Flnanclal Reporting standa rd applicable in the UK and Ireland IFR5102) (effective I January 20151. The flnanclal statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention except for investment assets, which are shown at market value. The flna nclal statements Include all transactions, assets and liabilities for which the congregation is responsible in law. They do not include the accounts of church groups that owe their affiliation to another body, nor those that are informal gatherlngs of church members. FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment fund5 are funds, the capital of which must be retained either permanently or at the congre8ation'5 discretion; the income derlved from the endowment is to be used elther as restricted or unrestricted Income funds depending upon the purpose for which the endowment was established in the f irst place. Restricted funds comprise lal income from endowments which is to be expended only on the restrlcted purposes intended by the donor and Ibl revenue donation5 or Brants for a specific congregational activity intended by the donor. Where these funds have unspent balances, interest on their pooled i nvestment is apportioned to the individual funds on an average balance basls. Unrestricted funds are income funds which are to be spent on the congregation's general purposes. Designated funds are general funds set aslde by the congreEatlon for use In the future.

Th is is a scheme operated by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, a separately registered charity. The congregation pays an assessment to the Presbyterian Church in Ireland equivalent to the employe¢s pension contribution for the Scheme and based on the stipend paid to the minister. The Presbyterian Church in Ireland Pension Scheme {2009) is a f unded Scheme of the defined benefit type• providing defined benefits based on career average revalued salary. The Scheme has assets held in a separately administered fund managed by a board of trustee5. The Presbyterian Church and the Scheme Trustees have agreed a funding plan to ensure that the Scheme is sufficiently funded to meet current and future obligations. A formal schedule of contributions was drawn up on 25 November 2015 whereby the Presbyterian Church agreed to pay from 31 December 2015 contributions of 24% of pensionable salaries to cover the accrual of benefits for future service, expenses, the c05t of insuring death in service benefits and f unding the scheme deflclt. INVESTMENTS {conVd) The congregation does not directly hold investments that are listed on recognised stock exchanges. The congregation however holds shares in the General Investrnent Fund which is managed by the Trustees of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, a corporate body established under the Irish Presbyterian Church Act 1871. The shares were formally valued on 31, December 2022 and are included in the Balance Sheet at that value. The congregation a Iso hold shares i n the Northern Irela nd Central Investment Fund For Charities. Established in 1965 through the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 1964 the Northern Ireland Central Investment Fund for Charities aims to provide charity trustees with the opportunity to invest all or part of thelr funds with the benefit of expert supervision. It is managed by the Department for Communities through recognised fund managers, but its investment pol icy is gu ided by a locally based advisory committee appointed by the department, which meets in February, Mayj August and November each year, The fund operates as a discretionary managed fund. Participating charities pool thelr Investments and are glven a proportionate number of shares in the fund based on the most recent valuation (share pricel. The fund invests in fixed-interest securities and selected equities. The allocation between fixed-interest securities and equlties is reviewed and adjusted periodicallyi in line with the fund's investment policy. The Fund Is formally valued at the end of each month and our congregatlon's share of Its value as at 31. December 2022 is included in the Balance Sheet.
