Constitution

The PTA is governed by its constitution. We have adopted the model constitution provided by Parentkind.

All committee members must be appointed at the PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Purposes

The purpose of Carnalridge PTA is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:

• developing effective relationships between staff, parents and other associated with the school

• engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support he school and advance the education of the pupils.

Public Benefit

Purpose 1 : Improved relationships between home and school. The benefit which flows from the purpose includes funding from additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This benefit is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support.

Classification: Public

Purpose 2 : Advancing the education of pupils at the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This benefit is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding.

Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? No harm arises for either purpose

Who are the charity’s beneficiaries? The benefit is for the children at Carnalridge Primary School.

Is there any private beneft flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary?

Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

Main Activities for Fundraising – Contained in Treasurers report/ Accounts as below

Treasurer Report 2022-23 for the Carnalridge Primary School PTA

The PTA financial year ran from 1st September 2022 to 31 st August 2023.

Opening balance: 1st September 2022 £3,373.19

Closing balance: 31st August 2023 £10,727.65

Total raised: £13,200.64

Total spent: £5,846.18

Plus cheques paid but not cleared by 31 August 2023 £8,414.04 (accruals).

The PTA were able to make purchases for the school including, Mathletics for the whole school (£712.50). The ParentPay app for a second year running for cashless payments (£245.30). AR

totalling (£1,200.00) The children enjoyed Colour run costings which cost (£331.39) and glow sticks

for (£15.98). Donuts cost (£44.20). Annual subscriptions for Lottery licence (£17.50) EA Haper

Collins cost (£1,120). Motion picture licence cost (£116.49). Bank charges were (£30.40) and Parent

Kind annual DD was (£140.00).

Coffee cups, Wine for Santa and Donuts, Tea and biscuits for Carol serve for Christmas totalling (£167.46) Valentines disco Disco the DJ cost £50 also tuck shop sweets (62.37).

St Patrick’s Donuts (£40.95) Snacks & Toys for sale for Summer Fayre and for cinema day cost

(£92.68) Food, crips and drinks for our BBQ at Summer fayre from Lynas at a reduced cost using local

business card cost (£458.96)

The play park had maintenance upgrade (£1,000.00) was a much needed expense.

As mentioned we had accruals (costs relating to our 22-23 year) but cheques cleared post 31 Aug 23

were (£100) for Kiwi’s cinema day. (£8,000) contributed to the cost for the schools’ 8 interactive

whiteboards. Additional costs for the Colour run including sun glasses of (£131.96).

Income: Sources of gross income (before costs) were as follows. A very generous £5,000.00 from

anonymous donation. Also a kind donation of £1,000.00 was received Hon Irish Society. The Summer

Fayre raised a staggering £2,363.06. Santa Run raised £205.30. The Northwest cark park lifted £477.75. And the Quiz which was enjoyed by all with a raffle £415. Coin wars which our P1s won

raised a total of £373.00.

Conclusion

In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year, the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
