STRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT
The Kirk Session
The charlty trustees of the congregation are the members of its Kirk Session. Under the
congregation's governing document, The Code, the book of the constitution and
government of the Presbyterian Church In Ireland, the Kirk Session seeks to watch over
and promote the spiritual Interest of the congregation and of persons not connected
with any congregation who are within its bounds. It ensures pastoral care is in place in
the congregation and seeks to further the contribution of the Church to Christian witness
and service In the local cornmunity. The Kirk Session has delegated to Its Congregational
Comrnlttee the temporal affairs of the congregation includlng admlnlstering all funds and
property belonging to the congregatlon. Members of the Kirk Session are ex-offlclo
members of the Congregational Committee.
The Klrk Session consists of the ordalned minister and the ruling elders of the
congregatlon. All members are ent]tled to propose, speak and exercise equal votes at
meetlngs, except that the Moderator, the mlnisters In actlve duty in the congregatlon,
has no dellberatlve but only a castlng vote.
Stated meetlngs of the Klrk session are held monthly (9 tlmes per year).
To be chosen for the offlce of the eldershlp In the congregatlon a person must be a votlng
member and a regular attendant on Its ordinances. The selectlon of those proposed to be
called to the office can be elther by the congregation or by the Kirk Sesslon. Members are
eletted If they obtaln one thlrd of those who vote.
Presbytery
Under the Presbyterlan Church in Ireland form of governance the corporate overslght of a
congregation is the responsiblllty of a Presbytery whlch superintends generally the splrltual
and temporal affairs of the congregations assigned to It by the General Assembly of the
Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Myroe congregation of the Presbyterlan Church has been
assigned to the Coler3ine and Umavady Presbytery of the Presbyterlan Church in Ireland.
The rnembership of the Presbytery consists rnainly of the active mlnlsters of congregations
assigned to it by the General Assemblyl minsters who have retired from active duty and an
elder appointed by the Kirk Session of the congregatlon.

The General Assembly
The General Assembly is the supreme court of the Church, representing in one body the
whole Church and actlng as Its supreme leglslatlve, admlnlstsBtlon and Judlclal authorlty,
In deallng wlth all matters brought before It. The General Assemblyls normally
constituted during the first week in June ft)r worship and to conduct its business. At the
end of business it is dissolved. The membership of the General Assembly consists mainly
of the active minlsters of each congregatlon, retlred mlnsters and a representative elder
appointed by the Kirk Session of each congregation.

DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
The charitable purpose of the congregation Is the advancement of religion.
Myroe congregation of the Presbyterlan Church is a congregation of the Presbyterlan
Church In Ireland. The Presbyterlan Church in Ireland, as a Reformed Church wlthln the
wider body of Christ is grounded In the Scriptures, and exlsts to love and honour God
through faith in HIS Son and by.the power of HIS Splrit, and to enable her members to
play thelr part In fulfilling God's mission to our world.
The congregation's mission purpose is to Worship and Glorlfy God by Bible based
Evangelism, Education and care for others, by the gra￿ of God, to help people of all
ages become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our vision is, by the grace of God,
to be an Incluslve, welcomlng community of Christ's people of all ages, which:
Is Increasingly characterised by love for God, and love and concern for others.
Is committed to the hlstorlc Christlan gospel as revealed in the Blble.
is relevant to people of this time and place.
The congregation alms to Ilve out Its Mlsslon and Vlslon as a famlly of God's people by belng:
- A Covenant Community: where our relationshlps are rooted In the promises of God by
livlng faithfully toward hlm and toward one another
- An Inter-generatlonal Communlty: where adults Intentlonally tske the lead to engage
wlth, encourage and nurture younger members to Maturity In Chrlst
- An OubNard looking Communlty: where we want the blessings of God that belong to us
In the gospel to become blessings for others beyond the bounds of our community.
As a congregation of the Presbyterlan Church In Ireland, we believe that the Blble Is the
supreme authority over all we do, and that the Westmlnster Confession of Faith, along
wlth the Larger and Shorter Catechisms set out what we understand the Blble teaches
on key matters of Christian faith and practice.

ACTIVITIES AND OBJEcfivES
The congregation meets for worship every Sunday and visitors are welcome to join.
Services are recorded and uploaded to YouTube for the benefit of those who are unable
to attend and as an outreach to others. The Sacrdment of the Lords Supper is obseNed
on three occasions throughout Lhe year. All those who have been baptised and who have
made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are admitted to the Lord's Supper. The
congregation holds weekly Prayer Meetings and Bible Study on a Wednesday night and
has a wide range of organisatlons Including

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Worshlp and Prayer
The congregatlon normally meets for worshlp each Sunday at 10.15am. Durlng the week
the Prayer Meeting and Bible Study provldes an opportunity for members to meet together
for fellowshlpi and for a tlme of prayer.
As well as our regular ServI￿S during the year we gave thanks for faithful attendance at
servlces and sought to comfort those who had been bereaved during the year.
At 31 December 2023 there were 280 communlcant members and 132 families connerted
with the congregation.
Pastoral care
Members of the congregation who are unable to attend church due to sickness or age
are visited on a regular basls by the minister and elders.

Mission and outreach
At a local level the congregatlon's local mission and outreach, including donations
to external mlsslons and agencies, include the following: Saturday Nlght Llve, P.W.
Coffee Evenlng. P.W. Guest Night, Praise Service, Holiday Blble Club, meet up
Mondays and contempordry worship events called We Worship that we seek to
hold slx tlmes a year.
The Global Misslon we supported: Garden of Hope in Kenya and International Meetlng
polnt under the auspices of The Presbyterlan Church in Ireland.
The congregation supports the United Appeal for Misslon whlch Is a central fund of the
Presbyterian thurch in Ireland. This fund enables congregations to support the wlder
rnlsslon of the denomination and to do mission and outreach on a denomlnatlonal basls
beyond what the congregation could do on Its own. The Unlted Appeal Fund provldes
flnanclal support for mlsslon personnel at home and overseas, assists congregatlons wlth
the deployment of locally based staff, enables church plantlng, provldes grant support for
the upkeep of church premlses, assist wlth the runnlng costs of Union Theologlcal College,
the Church's tralnlng college for mlnlstry students, and flnanclally supports congregatlon
In the areas of worshlp, disclpleshlpi global mlsslon, outreach, leadershlp and pastoral
care.
The congregation also contributes to the denominatlons annual World Development
Appeal, Sunday School project and any other speclal appeals.
Presbytery
The congregation was represented at the regular meetings of Presbytery by our minister
and / or one of the elders. This provides an Important link between the congregations
and the wlder structures of the church.
General Assembly
The minister and one of our elders were nominated to attend the rneeting of the General
Assembly of the Presbyterian Church In Ireland held in Assembly Buildings, Belfast, In
June.

Property
There was no significant investment In property during 2023.
Organisatlons
A brfef summary of our organisations that meet throughout the year are as follows:
S.N.L. (youth club) meets in our hall on the 1st Saturday of each month with an aveRge
attendance of 16 young people.
Senlor Cltlzens meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each Month. They have a guest speaker each
rnee￿ng. There are about 35 people attending each meetlng.
Our Holiday Bible Club runs annually during the flrst week in August. The numbers
attending have grown year on year to approxlmately 50 young people of primary school
age attending each day. We have 30 helpers from the Congregation.
Our P.W. meets monthly from September to Easter wlth approximately 25 ladles attendlng
each nlght.
Our Sunday School and Creche meets weekly wlth an attendance of 34 chlldren.
Meet up Monday's - Meet weekly to provlde opportunltles for fun, fellowshlp and craft for all
ages. There are around 24 each week,
Ladles Blble Study meets weekly Jointly wlth Second Llmavady wlth 7 from Myroe
attendlng.
Monday Night Blble Study on Zoom meets weekly and has 12 attendlng.
We Worshlp Is planned to be held six tlmes a year and is an opportunlty for people to
gather in a relaxed atmosphere for contemporary worshlp.
Volunteers
The Trustees wish to acknowledge thelr deep appreciation of those who glve freely of
their tlme by servlng on committees and helping with organlsatlons and other church
actlvlties.

PUBLIC BENEFIT sfATEMENT
The Presbyterian Church in Ireland meets the public beneflt requlrement by providing
benefit to its members and the general public by maklng known the Christian Gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ through the advancement of religion.
The direct beneflts whlch flow from the purposes of the Church Include the gaining of an
understandlng In Christian belie'fs as set out in the Blble and in the Church's subordinate
standards (the Westminster Confession of Falth and the Shorter and Larger Catechisms)
leading to splrltual and moral development and opportunities for response to Bible
teaching. In turn, this framework leads to practical expressions of Christian beliefs and
standards in the local comrnunity such as through the care of those In need (Including
the slck, disabled and bereaved).
Generally the above benefits are dellvered locally by congregations and their members,
or are facllltated through presbyterles or are organlsed and delivered centrally. Local
dellvery Is facllltsted by central resources In almost all cases. Public access is made
known through the use of noticeboards. printed materiali pre55 advertlsement, websltes,
and soclal media or in other ways.
The benefits are demonstrated through regular evaluatlon of the servlces and informal
and ad-hoc feedback from members, thelr farnllles, and members of the publlc. The
purpose does not lead to harm. The only prlvate beneflt flowlng from our purpose Is
related to Mlnlsters, Mlsslonaries, Deaconesses, Irlsh Mlsslon workers and Lay Agents
who receive benefits as a result of thelr holding Offi￿ or employment. However, thls Is
Incidental and necessary In order to further our charltsble purpose. There are no other
private beneflts. The beneficiaries of this purpose are members, their framilie5, Other
Indivlduals that the Presbyterlan Church In Ireland is in direct and Indlrect contact wlth,
the community in which pastoral services are provided and other communities
throughout Northern Ireland, the Republlc of Ireland, and worldwide which benefit from
our engagement with and support for both Christian and other secular organisations,
charities and individual members of the public.
The Kirk Session has had regard to the Charity Commlssions Publlc benefit requirement
statutory guidance.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The congregation's main source of income is members. contributions through the Weekly
Freewlll Offerlng. There were 107 contrlbutors durlng 2023 compared to 111 In 2022
donatlng a totsl of £40,694 in 2023 compared to £39,374 in 2022.
Totsl Income of the congregation during the year was £74,201 compared to £80,099 in the
previous year. Regular dirett gluing contributed £68,530 to funds during 2023 compared to
£72,819 durlng 2021. The congregatlon s HaNest offerlng ralsed £2,075 which was boosted
by Glft Ald to allow the congregatlon to donate £1450 to Intemational Meeting Point and
£1450 to Garden of Hope in Kenya.
Totsl expendlture for the year was £82,018 compared to £77,121 in the prevlous year.
The 2023 accounts closed recording a deficit of income over expenditure of £7,817. This
was mainly due to the purchase of a replacement large screen TV for the church,
replacement lighting for the halls and repairs to the manse, In total amounting to £8,380.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees are responslble for preparlng the annual report and the flnanclal
statements of the congregatlon In accordance wlth appllcable law and generally
accepted accountlng practice. As the congregations total Income does not exceed
£250,000, the Trustees have elected under Sectlon 64(3) of the Charltles Att (Northern
Ireland) 2008 to prepare a recelpts and payment account and a statement of assets and
Ilabilities.
The Trustees are responslble for keeplng adequate accountlng records that are
sufficient to show and explain the congregation's transactions and disclose wlth
reasonable accuracy at any tlme Its flnancial position. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the congregation and hence for taking reasonable steps for
the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
