an GARRYDUFF CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYtERIAN CHURCH IN IRELAND NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS for the year ended 31 December 2023 ACCOUNTING POUCIES BASIS OF FINANCIAL sfATEMEKrs Asthe total income of the congregation is less than £250,OOOthe congregation have elected in accordance with the provisions in The Charities (Accounts and Reports Regulations (Northem Ireland) 2015to prepare its accounts on a receipts and payments basis. FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment funds are funds, the capital of which must be retained either permanently or at the congregation's discretion; the income derived from the endowment is to be used either as restritted or unrestricted income funds depending upon the purpose for which the endowment was established in the first place. Restricted funds comprise (a) income from endowments which is to be expended only on the restricted purposes intended by the donor and (b} revenue donations or grants for a specific congregational activity intended by the donor. Where these funds have unspent balances, interest on their pooled investment is apportioned to the individual funds on an average balance basis. Unrestricted fund5 are income funds which are to be spent on the congregation's general purposes. Designated funds are general funds set aside by the congregation for use in the future. FIXED A55Ef5 The charity has the rightto occupy and use for its charitable objects certain tangible fixed assets, including the Church, hall and manse, vested in local Trustees. No consideration is payable for the use of these assets. Expenditure incurred on the repair or maintenance of these assets is charged a5 resources expended in the statement of financial activities in the period in which the liability arises. All tangible fixed assets having a value to the charity greater than one year, other than those acquired for specific purposes, are capitalised. Depreciation is provided on a straight-line basis to write off the cost or initial value, less residual value, of tangible fixed assets over their estimated useful lives: Freehold buildings 50 years Fixtures, fittings and office equipment 10 years Computer equipment 4 years 15

These have an insurance value of £1,994,480 as valued by Mr lan Maconachie on behalf of Oval James on Ilth July 2014. The Church properties were revalued in December 2022 by R Davis & Company on behalf of Arthur J Gallagher at a value of £3,766,008. 10. TRUSTEE REMUNERATION AND RELATED PARTY TRANSACTIONS Mr Desmond Moore, who is a Trustee, received £31312022.. £220) for providing his serdices as supply speaker during the year. Mr Stanley Lee, who is a Trustee, received £Nil {2022: £75} for providing his services as supply speaker during the year.
