THE LYNAS CHARITABLE TRUST FUND TRUSTEES, REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2023 The Trustees presents their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2023. The financi81 stataments have been prepared in accordance with thè accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial stalements and comply with the Charitys Trust Deed, the Charities Act (Norlhern Ireland} 2008 and °Accounling and Reporling by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 102)" (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2019}. Objectives and actlvltles During the life of Ihe settlor upon trust to apply Ihe income of the tTUSt fund for such charitable purposes as th6 settlor shall from lime to time in writing direct. In Ihe event of the death of the settlor or of Ihe tot81 failure of the Irusts, the Trustees shall have absolute discretion as to the charitable purposes for which the Trust fund income is applied. Publlc benefits The Advancement of Religion - the direct beneffts which flow from thls purpose includ6 raislng awareness and understanding of Christianity and that the personal benefits associated with the Christian faith provide an inherenl benefit to society. Through the acceptance of and living a lifestyle in line with the teachings of Ihe Chrisllan faith, many have been freed of bad habils such as alcoholism, crimlnal activities and famlly lives improved. These benefits are demonstrated Ihrough asking for regular feedback and evaluation of the charilies supported using a variety of methods - verbal conversalions and anecdolal observations. People are invited to embraGe tha Christian faith and any response is entirely voluntary. We try to ensure no improper pressure is applied. However as we do not have full control over the grant recipients there is always this risk, though it is rare and the benefits 0e1gh the harm. Most large grants are paid direct to recognised charities and organisations and as such there should be no private benefit. Payments to smaller local charitie5 are much lower in value and would be considered incidental. The main b8neficiaries are people world-wide and channelled through UK charities. The relief of those In need by reason of youth, age, ill-heallh, disabilily, financial hardship or other disadvantage. The direct benefrts whlch flow from thls purpose include reducing social exclusion on account of poverty, improved health outcornes, reduced levels of stress and financial support through various progfammeslcharities and organisalions. Bènefit also accrues lo members of the public by reason of the increased capacity of the once needy person. These benefits arè demonstrated through regular feedback and evaluatlon of the charities supported as well as in the anecdotal observations {where we see a change in people's IIv8s). No potential causes of harm have been identlfi8d. Achlevements and performance Flnancial revlaw The Charity returned nel ouigoing resources for the year of £60,354 {2022 - net outgoing resources of £80,535). Al 31 sl October 2023 the lotal funds of the charity amounted to £767.070 (2022 - £827.4241. comprised solely of general unrestricted funds. The Trustees endeavour to maintain sufficient funds to ensure that the Charity will be able lo continue with its activities and, in the event of a drop in income, give consideration to ways in which additional funds may be raised.
