Amanda's Acting Techniques 24th June 2018 We hosted
an accessible to all drama workshop taken by the amazing
Amanda Doherty in All Souls Church on Elmwood Avenue in
the heart of belfast The ticket admissions for this event
raised £138.00 FM)unds to go toward5 our next project. We
had 9 Parti￿pants who all left in a v8ry Postlivè mindset
having leamt a lot and made several new CA)nnections.
Loulse's acting workshop for beglnners 7th July 2018
This was our frillow up vffjrkshop to Amanda's in the same
location. this workshop focused on the basics of Acting we
had 5 participants in this workshop and rais8d £46.00 for our
fuiure projects. The true b8n8fft of these two events was to
train our own pty)l of actors so that we do not have to look
outsidé of our own ￿MMunity for acting talent we can
perform our projects ourselves. This is very important to us
and the basis for hokling these workshops.
AGM 30th November 2018 The AGM was beneficial to us
not onty b8cause we voted in our new committee but that we
started a registration for members as we had not been doing
this effecltvely before and it was unclear who were and wère
not members of D'sign so now we have our official
enrollment we can expand our member base and rea¢h more

Tosco Crumlln Bag Pack 2nd Docember 2018 Our new
board members hdd a bag pack in Tesco Crumlin with our
feslive gear on we managed to raise £392.81 and awareness
of our chaiity.
Pub Qulz Fundralser 8th DKember 2018 The Pub Quiz
vtss something we really wanted to repeal after the success
of our first one in 2017. We hired a free space in The
Sunllower Bar in Belfast and made a totsl profft of £516 as
the room, raffle prizes and Mc's time where all donated for
free. Using our new online enrollment for members v
managed to make thity new D'sign members by bringing the
ipad and asking the quiz participants if they wanted to
become members. This was a pronged strat8gy to raise
mn8y and attract new members to our charity.

Amanda Dohety teamed up Imth D'sign on the 24th June 2018
to facFlitate for us two contrasting but complementary
methodologies in on8 acting wothshop the aim to train and
develop the skills of our members to enhance future
performanc8S.
Amanda's chosen approaches were: The Laban technique and

This dass was provided in both spoken English and Brttish Sign
Language and was open to professionals hoping to CA)nsider
new id8as, and complete beginners seeking a safe,
non-judgementsl space to take new risks. We had nin8
parti¢tpants with a great mix of abiltties from level one sign
languag8 students. CODA'S. Hearing Actors and Deaf Actors.
This untque blend of people made the workshop explosive with
creativity and ideas. Admittan¢8 was £16 per person and we
made £138 from ticket sales which we have saved for our next

production. We got our partictpants from a well planned out
and exeiting series of so￿al m8dia posts. we also used
Eventbrite to safety and responsibly handle peoples money and
booking information. We viewed this v￿rkShOp as a successfvl
event as we made a profit and the people who attended came
back for our nexi workshop vlhich we think proves how much
they enjoyed the experience.
Loulse Conaghan Deaf Friondly Acting Workshop

and from the stsge. She has been facilitating and directing
Sin￿ 2009. and has worked bwth large groups of people of
varying agos and abilities and this is why we were delighted to
have her on board working with us.
We took a pole of our members to se8 what type of Workshops
where the most desireabl8 and Drama dasses wer8 by far the
most popular. This dass focused on how to best portray a
Character on stsge and stripped back to the basics of acting,
looking at wants and obj'ectives. This session was for people
looknng to u)ntinue with D'S￿n as actors and people lust
looking to have some fun on a Saturday.
The dass ¥￿$ provided in both spoken English and British Sign
Language and was very fun and welcoming w8 had 5
partiapants at this event. we felt that the numbers where lower
as the event was on a Sunday and have leamed from that to
make events a Friday or Saturday, the more events we create
th8 more are leaming. Admission was £16 for new
participants and £10 for those who y￿re at our last v￿rkShOp
as an In￿ntiVe to bcx)k tKsth workshops. We made £46.00
again we used Eventbrite arKI PayPal to make sure we were
being safe with people's mon8y and personal Data.
The 2018 D'slgn Annual General Meeting
Our AGM this year tcK)k ￿ace on the 30th November 2018. we
took this opportunty to invite as many p8opl8 as possible to the
meeting and take peoples names and email addresses to

officaally add them to our Members list. This inryeased our
official members list which we think was very beneficial.
Tesco Crumlln Road Bag Pack Day.
On the second of December we organised a backpack in the
Cmmlin branch of Tesco. Our aim was to rais8 money for our
next production. We had both hearing and Deaf members out
all day so that we could communicate with all m8mbefS of the
public, we were in our D'sign T shirts and had our p8nguin
stand up for people to ¢¢)me over and have a chat about what
V￿ stand for and hope to athieve. We found this to be an
extremely successful event as we raised £392.81. We will
definitely be taking this fundraising technique further as it is
dearfy very benefirial.
Sunfiower Bar Pub Qulz
On the 8th december 2018 we ran a pub quiz fundraiser to
raise money for our next proie¢L We were overwhelmed by our
support from our members who donated great prizes for our
raffle and by the tum out for the quiz. We sold 18 tickets online
raising £180 tickets where how much and we sold how much at
the door. so induding ticket prices and the raffle we managed
to raise £516. We had a pub qutz last year that raised £400 so
we managed to increase our totsl from last year and we ¢an
see that this is an extremety usefvl furbdraising te¢hnique and
plan to cary on the Christmas Quiz as a D'sign tradition.

We have rectified our prob18m from the previous years by
allocating some key roles on our trf)ard to hearing
members, they hav8 b88n ablé to tum our posrlion around
and set in place vital policies and procedures as well as
organise our d0￿mentatiOn and set UP training
opportuntties for our committee members to allow for these
issues not to arise again in the future. Due to this, this year
has not seen the most profft. however we feel as now all of
th5s is in trfa￿ we can Icok forward to a more profitable
