The Klrk Sesslffvn
The charity trustees of the congregation are th¢ mell]bers of its Kirk Session. Underthe congregation's governing
do¢umeDt. The Code, tILe book of the ¢¢)nstitution and government of the PtEsbyteTiall Ch￿r¢￿ in Ireland, the
Kil* Session seeks to watoh over and womote the spiritual Anteresi of the congregation and of petsons not
conrtected any congregation who are within its bounds. It ensures pastoral care is in place in the
ongr¢gation and seeks to fi￿er the Contr1￿110n of the Church to Christian witness and ge￿1¢e in the k)cal
¢ommurtity. The Kirk Sessions has delegated to its CongTegational Committee the temporal affairs of the
¢ongr¢gation including administering all fimds and propety belonging to the congregation. Members of the Kirk
Sesston are ex-officio member5 of the Congregational Cornmittee.
The Kirk Se￿10n consists of tbe ordained minister and the ruling elder.9 of the Longregations. All TDetnbers are
entitled to propose, speak and exercffise equ8] votes at meetings, except that the Moderdtui. the minister in active
duty in the congregation. h&8 no deliberdtive but only a casting vote.
Stated meetings of tbe Kirk sesgion ar¢ held at I￿t Iwo or three times each year.
To bc chosen for the 0￿]Ge of the eldEf5hip in the ¢ongregation a person must be a voting member and a regular
attclldant on Ils ordinances. The sel￿tiOn of those proposed to be ￿lled to the office can be either by the
congregation orby the KI￿ Stsssion. Membe[5 arc elected if they obtsin two-thirds of thos¢ who vot¢.
Presbytery
Under the PTe5byterian Church in Ireland forni of governance the corporats oversight of a coll8regatiort 18 the
responsibility of a Presbytery which superintends generally the spiritual and temporal affairs of the
congregations assigned io it by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Kilkeel
congregation of the Presbyterian Church has been ￿l8￿ed to the Newry Presbytery of the Prcsbyterian Church
in Ireland. The membership of the Presbytery consists mainly of the active ministers of congregations assign¢d
to it by the General Assembly, minsters who have reiired from 2¢1ive duty an elder appoitited by the Kirk
Session of the congrEgation.
The Genernl Assembly
The General knembly i8 th¢ supr¢]n¢ ¢ourt of the Church, r¢pre6enting in one body the whtrle Church attd
acting as its supreme legislative, athninistration and judi¢ial authority, in dealing with all matters brought before
it. The Generdl Ass¥Enbly is nornially constituted during th¢ firsl week in June for worship and to conduct its
business. At thc end vf busRIieb5 It is dissolved. Th¢ m¢mb¢r6hip of th¢ General Assembly consists mainly of the
active minislers of eauh con¥reg41tiow retired minsters a wr¢sentative elder appointed by the Kith Session
of vach congregauon.

The charitable purpose of the congregation is the advancement of religion.
Kilk¢el congregation of th¢ Presbyterian Chuwh is A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The
Presbyterian Church in Ireland, as a R¢fomcd c.hurch within the wider body of ChTiSt is grounded in the
Scrip￿res, and exists to love and honour God through faith in His Son aud by the power of His SpiriL and to
enable her members to play their part in ￿lfIlling God's mission to our wodd.
As a congregation of the Pr¢8b￿grian Church in Ireland, we be]ieve that the Bible is the supreme authority over
all we do, and that the Westrnit]ster Cothfe55ion of Traith, along with the Larger and Shoner Catechisms set out
what we understand the Bible t&whes on key tnatteTS of Christian faith and practtce.

Activities and Objeetlves
The congregation meets for worship every Sunday and visitors are welcornc to join. Thc Sacrament of the Lords
Supper is observed on six occasions durAng the year and all those who have bc¢n baptised and who h2ve mad¢ a
profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Chrisi are admitted to the Lord's Supw. The congregation hold$ regular
Bible study meetings and has a wide rdnge of organisations in¢luding..-

Worship and prayer
The congregation nornially rneets for worghip eaeh Sunday at I1.30am and 7.00pm. During the weck thc Bible
Study provides an opportunity for member8 to meet together for fellowship, to study the Scriptures and for a
time of prnyer.
At 31 December 2025 there were 196 communicallt m¢mb¢rs and 295 families comi¢¢t¢d with the
congregations. The averdge weekly atltrnddllce itt worship is 180.
Pastordl care
Member$ of the Congregation who aTe unable to attend church due to sickness OT age are visited on a regular
basis by the minister supported by elder8.

Thc congregaiioD seeks io ￿ach into the local community with the Gospel. It is engaged in communlty outreach
acro&s the whole cominunity. The Church also takes an interest in work oveTseas 2nd has a partievlar Anierest in
Christian work in Uganda.
Th¢ congregation Suppo￿ the United Appeal for Missic)n which is a central fund of the Presb￿crJall Church in
Ireland. This fund enables ￿ng￿gatIonS to support the wider mission of the denomination and to do mi￿10￿ and
outreach on a denominational basis beyond what the congregation could do on its own. The United Appeal Fund
provides financial support for mission persoTJnel at home and overseas, assistb. LUng￿aLlons with the
deployment of l(¢ally based gtxff, enables church planting, provides grant bUPPOrt for upkeep of church
prernises. assisi with the tunning costs of Union The411ogical College, the Church's trainiDS collcge lor ministry
stydents. and fmancially supEM)rts congregation in the areas of worship, dis¢iple5hip, 8lobal mission, outreacl
leaderthip and pastoral care.
The congregation also contiibutes to the denominations Sund#y S¢hool project and ony other special appeal8.
Presbytery
The congregation was represented at the regular meetin8s of Presbyt¢ry by our minister and one of th¢ ¢ld¢rs.
Thi$ provides an important link between the congrtgations and the wider slwclures of the ¢hurch.
General Assembly
The minist¢r and on¢ of elders were nomit)ated to attend the meeting of the General Assembly of the
P￿sbyten8D Church in Ireland held in Assembly Bulldings, Belfast, in June.

The property (main Church Buildiog. Church Halls & the Mans¢} is diligently maintained by the Chuw
Commitie¢.

The congregaiion's main source of income is members, contributions through th¢ Weekly Freewill Offcring.
There were 215 (2024 - 212) contributorg during the year.

The Charity wrted an overall SU￿luS for the year of £37,989 (2024- £23.464).
The reserve8 of the Charity at 31 December 2025 totslled £1,427,762 {2024- £1,389,773).
Reserves Poilcy
The trnstees consider it appropriate to hold £15.0(K) of liquid fimd8 in the current account within the General
Fund5.
The ¢urren¢ account baloJ]ce at 31 December 2025 was £22,011 (2024 - £17.621). Tknis balan¢¢ improved
$lightly from the 2024 level at]d was considered appropriate by the Trustees.
Restricted Funds are held at levels consider appropriate given the purpose of the fund.
The truste¢s consider il appropriate to hold a minimum of £9.000 in the Property Fund. Th¢ baian¢¢ at 31
December 2025 was £19,381 {2024- £12.611).
Going Concern
The aetivities of the congrcgation are dyndent on ongoin8 GontributiOll5 from it5 member5. The Trustee5 are of
the opinion that the congrcgalion has.8ufficicni resources at the date of approval of thesc financial statements to
meet commitments which will arise in thc ycar from the date of stgning this rq)ort and 5ubjeGt to the Continuing
support from tt)ember$ tt> fund on an ongoing b&818 the congregation's cutretlt activities and other financial
commithients.

Missionaries, D¢aroDe&5es. Irish Mission workers and Lay Agents who receive benefits as a result of their

purpose. There are no other private bcncfits. The beneficiaries of this pu￿08¢ are member6, their families, other
individuals that the PTesbyterian ChLwch in Ireland is in direct and indirect Contact with, the Community in which
p&storal servi¢es are provided and other communities throughout Northern Ireland. the Republic of Ireland, and
worldwide which benefit from our engageTnent with and support for both Lhristian and other s¢¢ular
organisations, charities and individual me]nbu5 of the public.

The charity operates a defined contiibution pension 8cheD]e for its employees. The assets of the scheme
are held separately from those of th6 ctwity in an independently administered Fund. The pension cost

The minister of the congregation is a member of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Pension S¢heme

Congregation pays an assessment to the Presbyterian Chutch in Ireland equivalent io the employels
pension contributions for the Scheme and based on the stipertd paid to the minister.
The Presbyterian Church in IrelaDd Pension Scheme (2009) is a funded Seh¢m¢ of the defined ben¢fit typ¢,
providing de*1￿￿ benefits based on career average revalued salary. Th¢ S¢h¢me has ass¢ts held
separately adEninistered ￿nd Managed by a board of iwstees. The Presbyt¢rian ch￿￿h ond th¢ S¢h¢me
Trnstees have 2grced a fvnding plan to ensure the Scht]nt is sufficielltly fund¢d to m¢et GU￿¢nI ODd fvture
obligations. Following the 2023 Triellnial Acthlarial ValLQiioD of the Fund, the fomial schedule of
contributions was changed to reflttt the signifi¢ant improve]nrnt in the SChe￿e's funding level. The
Presbyterian Church now agreed to pay contributions of 17.5 /0 (2024 - 24/0) of pensionable Salaries to
