## **Summary of the Objectives of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document:** 

The Association is established to advance religion, relieve poverty, hardship and distress and for the benefit of the public on the Donegall Road and its environs of Belfast City Centre (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”), with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said public and in particular: 

a) to promote the Christian faith in the area of benefit through evangelism, prayer events and meeting and street 

outreach activities; 

b) to provide assistance to people within the area of benefit who are deemed to be homeless or sleeping rough or 

who are suffering from chemical dependence on alcohol or other drugs or from illness infirmity or disability connected with such chemical dependence through the provision of food, clothing and counselling; 

c) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the Committee may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity. 



## **Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity's Objects:** 

The year 2023 was a successful and engaging year for RCCG-Cornerstone Church Belfast. 

The Charity engaged in many activities, fulfilling our charitable commitment to our local community. 

As part of our weekly commitments, from January to December 2023, the charity provided light meals for an average of 50 people every Sunday. 

In December 2023, the charity gave out over 35 shopping vouchers with an average of £15 per family and students in our community to mitigate the cost of living effect and for them to buy essential groceries to celebrate Christmas. 

The Charity also organised a ‘’Sunday Christmas Lunch’’ on 17th December 2023 which provided free choice of food and drinks to over 70 people within the community. 

On the 24[th] of December 2023, a Children's Christmas party was also organised which was free and open to all the children in our community. Free meals and Christmas gifts were given to all the children in attendance. 

As part of our summer activities in July 2023, an outdoor programme tagged ‘’Family Fun Day’’ was organised by our Charity to aid the mental health of families in our community. We provided free transportation, food and drinks. Different games and activities were involved. We had about 100 people in attendance and were all taken care of.

## **Statutory Declaration** 

The trustees declare that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the commission in exercising their powers or duties. 

## **Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year:** 

We have a centre which we provide counselling and provide information, e.g., we use the centre for counselling and as a distribution point for all the food we distribute to various individuals in need. 

We also ran a street outreach programme which currently involves going out on the streets on a Friday evening in groups to show care and love to people sleeping rough in the street and to provide basic essentials. 

In other to support international students in our community, a free academic support programme was provided from time to time, as required in the year 2023. 

Free seminars on skills acquisition, career development, parenting, and investment training were provided with costs covered by the Charity to support people who are interested in going into self-employment. 

Families in the community with accommodation challenges were given support based on the ability of our Charity. 



Victims of domestic violence that approached us were also given support as a supplement to the efforts of other organisations. 

The charity provided support to many homeless people in our community. 

## **Financial Review** 

## **Brief Statement of the Charity's Policy on Reserves:** 

It is the policy of RCCG-Cornerstone Church to hold in reserves the equivalent of two months general running costs. It is also our policy to hold an amount for likely outreach works at the next  inspection. In view of the forthcoming street retreat next year, we have allocated £1000 to reserves to cover our involvement. This policy will be reviewed in twelve months’ time apart from the Learning and training project element which will be reviewed in six months’ time when the situation is clearer.
