## **Summary Minutes of Annual General Meeting** 

## **Held on Monday 06 March 2023 at 7pm** 

## **In St Johns Parish Church Hall** 

## Chairperson Report 

- Kirsty McKeown welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming 

- KM thanked VJ for attending and chairing the meeting 

- LCCC thanked for their ongoing support and funding 

- Thanked Local Councillors for their help, support and guidance when needed 

- We were lucky to have been provided with a Community Polytunnel from LCCC.  This has brought together a small gardening group and has also acted as a Spooky Pumpkin Patch at Halloween and a Santa’s grotto at Christmas.  These were sponsored by Local business – Jessie Blinds and Armstrong Surfacing 

- Decision made to install speed calming measure at the Hawthorn Hall end of the village 

- Thanks made to Community Police for prompt response when required and for up to date information on village and surrounding area. 

- We had the privilege of being one of a few selected Boroughs to help mark the Northern Ireland Centenary and we had a memorial bench installed and 7 trees planted in the Play Park 

- We celebrated as a community for the Queens Platinum Jubilee and had a Fun Day in the park for all our own Princes and Princesses. 

- We continue to have a very successful Village Friends Group.  This enables older members of the community to come together and take part in activities and spend time together.  KM noted that none of this would be possible without Stephanie Gregg and KM thanked her for her ongoing dedication 

- We are in the early plans of getting our Youth Club up and running again.  In the interim we are providing fitness and mental health activities to our younger members and in the coming weeks we plan to run a cooking and health eating class for children and adults. 

- Last year we lost valuable members from our committee.  KM thanked Jolene and Chris Reid and Pete Hunt for all their help and support and wish them all the best for the future. 

- We are lucky to still have a good working relationship with Pete Hunt and Neighbourhood Watch. 

- We have welcomed Suzie Muckle to the groups as Secretary. 

- We have also welcomed Stephen Hyland and Orlaigh Dougherty to the group and are looking forward to a younger person’s views on what the community needs. KM thanked each member of the Community Association for bringing different and valued skills to the group.

## Treasurers Report 

- LCCC thanked for the following Grants – 

   - Annual Community Support Grant 

   - Festival Grant – Summer Fete 

   - `o` Christmas Grant – Annual Switch on and Christmas Wreath making events held 

- In addition, we were also successful in applying for a Connecting Communities and Volunteering Support Grant.  This allowed our spaces to be COVID 19 safe as well as providing activities to improve the health and wellbeing of the community and to support volunteers.  We also provided 



arms chair aerobics and pottery classes for Village Friends as well as purchasing SYCA clothing for the volunteers so that they are visible at events. 

- Wilma advised that the Accounts have been independently examined by John Belshaw, Chairperson of White Mountain District and Community Association. 

- Special thanks given to LCCC for the Grants they have provided and for the continual support 

- Opening Balance £9,129.68 Total Income £10,672.58 This comprised of grants from LCCC, DEARA and fundraising Expenditure £12341.81 – Purchase of goods Closing Balance £7360.45 

- Accounts are available online for anyone wishing to view them. 

- Advised that we may not get as much funding this year as a lot of that was COVID 19 funding 

- PH thanked Wilma Henderson for all her hard work this year – agreed by room
