Dear Trustees,
Trustees’ Secretary Report
Orangefield Primary School – Acknowledgement of Support from Whinlands Trust
On behalf of Orangefield Primary School, I wish to formally record our sincere appreciation to the Whinlands Trust for their generous financial contributions. In May 2025, the Trust kindly donated £2,000, which, when combined with the £6,000 received in November 2024, brought the total support to an exceptional £8,000. This level of generosity has been deeply valued by our pupils, staff, and parents.
During the academic year 2024/2025, these funds enabled the school to provide a range of enriching experiences that would otherwise have been beyond our reach. Examples include contributions towards residential trips for Year 6 and Year 7 pupils, early years visits to the farm, excursions to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, and transport costs for outdoor learning events. These opportunities have had a significant impact on our pupils’ educational experience.
In the current climate of budgetary constraints, rising costs of activities, and increased household spending, many families are finding it increasingly difficult to access additional funds for school-related experiences. At the same time, the need for pupils to engage in learning opportunities beyond the classroom has never been greater, as these experiences play a vital role in broadening horizons and supporting personal development. The support from the Whinlands Trust has therefore been invaluable in ensuring that our pupils, from Nursery through to Year 7, continue to benefit from these wider learning experiences.
On behalf of the entire Orangefield Primary School community, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Whinlands trustees for their ongoing commitment and partnership with us.
Thank you once again,
S McCullagh
Principal
