This year, Brassned( were successfvl in becoming an Annual Funding Programme {AFPI client for the first time, with
the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. We received inlernalioDal recognition with our pr¢duclion of Project Children, and
toured Gina Donnelly's play 'Anlhem For Oissatisfa¢tion' to the Oublin Fringe Festival, winning the Solas Nua Award
2024. We ￿Prise¢j our powerful 2023 initiative The Peokles Panlo in 2024 and was our largest audienc* ever for
Brassneck show. We ale delighted with the ongoing success of Bras5ne¢k Youth, bul are struggling lo meet the
demand. We will hopefully gel additional funding lo open up the programme lo those young people currently on the
waiting list.

'Projecl Children. was repfised al The Lyric Belfast in Apnl 2024. Project Child￿n founder, Oenis Mulcahy, flew in
from the US lo artend Ihe performance.
Piojecl Children was inspi￿d by the initiative of the same name, sel up in 1975. Brothers Patrick and Denis Mulcahy,
Cofk natives and Mernbe￿ ol the NYPD. watched news footage ol the violence from back home. From this, 'Projecl
Children, is born. Over the next 40 years, they would bring over 23.000 Catholic and Proleslanl kids lo the U.S during
the Summer months, as respite from the conflict. Belfast Playwright, Fionnuala Kennedy. documented this
extraordinary Intervention through interviews with those who participated in Project Children.

In December 2024. Brassneck produced its second ever People's Panto. This year. the panto was Sleeping Beauty,
wrillen by and starrin9 Neil Keery.
The People's Panlo was sel up lo create a high-qualily, professional pantomime that will increase access lo the art$
for families from disadvantaged communities and schools with high number5 of students in receipl of Free School
Meals, with an affordable ticket price in two local, accessible venues - Sl Comgall's, Falls Road, and Forth River
8owling Club, Woodvale Park.
This year, we ￿ceiVed sponsorship trom CCU Credit Union. CCU said, 'This partnership was a true alignment of both
oryanisations core valu8s. CCU Credit Union & Brassne¢k ThealTr Comp8ny Sha￿ a common vision lo improve the
lives oflocal, working<lass families. Al CCU, we want lo demonslrale a commitment lo more than Just financialbacking,

This year, we were delighted lo work with infamous 8elfasl comedian Paddy M¢Donnell, and supported him in writing
and perfoming his one-man show 'Rebel Without a Claus,, in the Roddy M¢Corley Heritage Cenlre. This was
Chrislmas offering for adult audiences, and Ihe show sold-oul towards the end of Ihe run.
BRASSNECK YOUTH
The youlh prograrnrnè has over 72 members enrolled this year. The wailing li$1 is still high because retention is high,
bul we are aiming to extend these programmes in 2025126.
This year, 8ra$sneck Youth worked with Belfast Film Festival on their 'Hearth' programme which is part of Belfast
Stories 2024 project.
The English National Thealfe of London Wofked with the older actors on a development with local playwright Amanda
Verlaque on hef new play. Later this year, Brassneck Youth were accepted onlo the NT Conneclions programme. and
will be wot*ing with Ihe older actors on this resulting in perfomances in a local venue in March 2025, and in The Lyric
Theatre on 5th Apnl 2025.
Two of our young adors made their debuts on the main stage al The Lyrlc Belfa51 with 'Proje¢t Children,. One of our
young actors has been cast in a maior television series for Channel 4 due lo air in 2025. The older group participated
in Feile's Haunted House in October 2024. Five ofour young mernberswere PiL*ed to be in The Hearth documenlary,
which prerniered al Cinewodd Odyssey on 1211 December 2024.

Structure
8rassneck Theatre Company has a management committee of up lo 6 members who meet quarterly and are
responsible for the strategic direction and policie5 of the charity. Al present the charity ha5 6 members from a variety
of professional bacJ(grounds relevant to the work of the charity.
A scheme of dele9alion is in place and day lo day responsibillly of the services rest with the Company Manager and
Artistic Direclor. They are responsible loi ensuring the charity delivers the $ervice$ spe¢ifiel and that key performance
indicators are met. Sub-commrtlees are in place lo review some areas in greater detail e.g. finance and HR.

The Company was incorporated on 6th May 2009 as Brassneck Theatre Company. The rxjmpany is consliluled under
a Memorandum and is govemed under its Artides of Association.
There have been amendments to the goveming documents in the year.
The Company has been registered with the Charity Commission lor Northem Irèland from 30th June 2016 under
regislfation number NIC105096.

Sialemenl we were established in order to satisfy the huge appelite for quality professional theatre in this part ol the
¢ily.
Brassneck Theatre Company and Brassneck Youth lead in the heart of one of the mosl $o¢i04conomically deprived
ward3 in the UK. We aclively encourage new audiences lo Ihe arts while maintaining a large, loyal following who leel
empowered Ihrou9h our work by seeing themselves, their stories and their own voices being reflected on the sla9e,
giving avdiences a sense of ownership and belonging.
We have recently developed and implemented a new-and-improved digiial en9agement strategy lo better connect and
engage with our audiences. As well as ulilising our existing plalforrns on Facebook, Twitter and Inslagram, we have a
mailing list with 298 subscribers la 142 /0 increase in the last 12 months) with a 35% engagement rate, well above the
standard benchmark. We are also using new lypes of conlenl lo engage our audience such as videolreels, promolions,
competitions and inleraclive conlenl such as polls, Q&As and Inslagram takeovers. We have increased our social
media engagernent by 206Vo in 2024 through the implemenlalion ol our digital engagement 51ralegy.
This y•ar, we have mainlainèd our ethos ol premiering new work in local vtrnues in West Belfast as a part ol Fèile an
Phobail before embarkin9 on national tours and flagship venues with 'Pfojecl Children, al The Lyric. We look our newly
commissioned play 'Anlhem for Dissa115fadion' by Gina Donnelly lo the Dublin Fringe festival. Our Youlh Outreach
Programme prim8rily largel$ Child￿n and young people from areas of high $oci04¢onomi¢ deprivation across the cily
and continue5 to expand ils outreach lo even more areas and communities, year on year, wllh a ¢urrenl subscription
of over 72 youn9 people.
Through our vast lounng ￿MIt, we will increase audien¢e numbers nationally as well as inlernalionally. with an uplift in
the number ol new venue$ Ih81 we will partner with. In 2023 we loured lo 18 local and ￿gional venues and in 2024 we
returned lo inlern8lional touring to Smock Alley Dublin as a part ol Dublin Fringe. In 2025 we will continue lo expand
this remit with new inlemalional venues in Edinburgh and the US.
In the last bNo years. our General Manager h83 developed Ouf process for tracking our audiences and collecting
feedback from Ihem, which we now consider lo be a strength ol the organisalion. For our lale$l'People's Panto, Pfoiect.
'Sleepin9 Beauty,, in 2024, we engaged the services of THRIVE and their IMPACT survey, using our lickel plalfom
Ticket Tailor. to help measure Ihe impact of not jusl the show itself bul the wider impact of allending arts and culture
loi aUd￿n￿9 in Norlhern Ireland. This nol only helps us as an organisalion lo see what we are doing well and how lo
improve, bul a150 the wider impact of the arts, thus helping the arts sector here demonstrate ils impact for in¢￿3s8d
funding from the Exe¢ulive. helping everyone in the se¢tor.
In addition to continuing to increase audienc8 numbers year on year, we have identifièd that we would like lo diversify
the range of people Ihal will have the opportvnily lo participate in our high-quality productions for example, younger
people and disabled audiences. We have had some success with this in our 24125 programme, attracling a younger
demographic with 'Anlhem for Di5salisfaclion' 1391/>0 18-39 year-oldsl and having signed pertormances and special
perlomances ol our Panlo specifically lor elderly people with dementia and adults with learning difficulties. We aim lo
build on Ihis by offerin9 a relaxed perfomiance for the 'People's Panlo, proiecl in 2025, as well as offering more signed
perfOrman￿S.

I report on the financial statements of Brassneck Theatre Company (or "the charity") for the financial year
ended 31 December 2024, which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities. Ihe Balance Sheet, and the
related notes.
Respective responsibililies of directors and examiner
As the charity directors you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms
of the Companies Acl 2006. Having satisfied myself that Ihe charity is not subject lo audit under company law,
and is eligible for independent examination. it is my responsibility to..
examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 {'the Chanties Act,)
as amended by the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 where applicable-
follow the procedure5 laid down in the general Difeclions 9iven by the Charity Commission for Northern
Ireland under section 65{9){b) of the Charities Act, and
state whether particular matters have come to my attenlion.

I have examined the charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination
wa5 carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern
Ireland under section 65{91{bl of the Charities Act.
The examination included a review of Ihe accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented wilh those records.11 also included consideration of any unusual items Of disclosures in
the accounts and seeking explanations from you as charity Iruslees concerning any such matters.

is also the pnncipal Pla￿ of business of the company The financial statements have been presented in Pound
Sterling 1£) which is also Ihe functional currency of the company.
Income
Voluntary income or capital is included in the Sialement ol Financial Activities when the company is legally
entitled lo it, it$ financial value Can be quantified with reasonable certainly and there 1$ reasonable certainly of
its ultimate ￿Ceipt. Enlillement lo legacies 1$ considered established when the company has been notified of a
distribution lo be rn3de by the executor5, Income received in advance ol due perfollnance under a contrad is
a¢¢ounled for as deferred income until earned. Grants for activities are recogni5ed as income when the related

All resources expended are accounted for on an aeKruafs basis. Charitable activities include costs of services

fundraising aclivilies. Non-slaff costs not attributed lo one category of activity a￿ allocated or apportioned pro-

lo individual activities by objective. Governance ¢osl$ are those associated with conslilulional and slatulory

residual value, over their expected useful lives as lollows.
