It cornpleted its partnership Barbour Fund programme enabling people from less well-off backgrounds to Improve thelr
lives by enhancing their employablllty, by providin8 activitie5 to reduce the i501ation felt by older people, and through
the provision of educational resources lor youn8 people outside of malnstream education.
It supported Clifton Housé Centre helping It to educate and Inform members of the publlc about philanthropy and the
influence the Soclety had irt th* dèvelopment of Belfast and in addressing disadvantage since 1752. It created and
maintained lobs and volunteer posts. Interlinked with this, the Society fulfllled it5 ¢UStodial role by preserying and
safeguardin8 the House and vast Archlv* ¢oll*rtlon whlch are in turn used to support work of Its soclal enterprise.
It contlnued to develop Its Mary Ann McCra¢ktn Foundatlon and ralse awarene55 of the Ilfe and work of gne of 8elfast's
most Sl8niflcant social relomers and phllanthrtsplsts. It ralsed awareness and promotèd conversaiions about her and
that of other female soclal reformers ol the time.
Addltionally, the Society 4Jtlllsed Its property a55et5 to facllltile a range of care for oldeT people. Allowln8 expert
pr(bvlder5 to leas* 5ts bulldlngs to house nurslng and resldential care and supported Ilvlng accommodation.

The So£iety allgns its annual 8ivin8 in the year to Its investment return but given the Pressures added by the cost-of-living
Increases on the local communlty, and the fact that the or8anisatlor* reached 270 years old in August 2022, It gave a total of
over £271,IJOO out In It5 own grants.

Early Intervention work (Family Support Hubl- the Society provlded support lor famille5 in crisis from acr055 North Belfast
by coverln8 ihe CUSLS ol two home vlsltor posts and Immedlate acces5 to vou¢hers lor those most In need. The wgrkers
provided l-l support to parents In their own home and supported the children (between the a8es of 0-181. The team
accepted refefrals from both the upper and lower North Belfast Fambly support Hubs, which are multi-disciplinary approach
network5 that slBnpost lamiliès who do not have statutory social work intervention. 92 families had received individual
Inter¥Èniions conslstlng of 113 parents and 192 chlldren, Of these chlldren 72 were experlenclng neurodlversity, ellher 8oln8
through ASD or ADHO asse55ment or had already received a dlagnos15 Of ASD or ADHD equatln8 to almost 40% of chlldren
with whom the team work*d to support their emotional and behavloural needs.
Und¢ubtedly the number of relerrals and the complexlty of the family need has grown dramatlcally over the last 6 months
which is a concern. and this ha5 required the team to take a multi-a8ency approach t0 5UPPOrt the famlly to facllitate change,
Ilnklna in more rxtenslvtly wlth other partner a8encies including GPS, health visitors, tta¢her. and Educational Welfare
Offi¢Èrs. The team's abllity to tailor their 5ervlce to meet the individual family's specific rtèeds and adapt their servlce
atcordini to a family's strengths and weakness#s is essential and the t?am's experience and ccntinual professional
development through updating tralnlng is testament to thls. Tht other strand of support had been the provlslon of
immedlate access to supermarket vouchers tor those most in need. In this time of dirt linan£ial hardship, families are
stru88ling to meet their m05t baslc needs so thls èsset is invaluable. The provlslon of thls support remove5 a level ol wgrry
for parents ènd allows them to concentrate on meeiing ihelr Chlldren's omatlanal needs.
Mary Ann Mccracken Bursary PTO8ramme- In partnership with 3 other funders. the lame5 Kane Foundation, Mary Ann
Mccracken FoundatlDn and Hunter Smyth Fynd. 64 students awarded with help, ran8ing from purchasing Vltal ¢gur5e
equipment. prolect travel costs, buying too15 and livinB expenses. 12 received safety cards for constructlon Sn*Yustry training
some of whom obtained employrntnt In a project that worked in partnership with 4 other lunders.

Creatjve Technologist and contributed towards the bk*llding refurbsshrnent Includin8 fvrntture and eouipmtnt. There have been 4
khools, St Malath¢s College, 8elf3St 8oy5 Model, Domlnlcan Colleg? Fortwilliam and Oelfast Royal Academy with the number of
teachers making ¢J5e of the hub, on è cros5 currkular basis, increasing frorn 21 to 27 and the number of students InC￿asing frorn
687 to 847 in yeaT5 8- 14. Sptclftc cour5E5 Inrl¥ded dlgltal enflchmernt. goowe workspace. Le80 and Mlnecraft t{￿1n8. antl the use
of VR headsets to explore a Nuclear Fi551on reactor and the intefiors of a local church, an actlve volcano, and scenes to In5plre
creative wrlting. The equlprnent also aSded the KS3 Dlgital CurrSculum. This has also had a p051tive Influence gn the numbers of
students choosing computei science for GCSE whith has incre•sed swificantly
The North 8ell3st Youth Choir-The Soclety funded the North Bellast Youth Choir- a choir that consists of 150 Young people
from right across the area who avail of prDfe551onal Instrudlon and ac£ess the hightst standard of choral and muslc tuition. The
Ihotr has appeared on natlonal and International stages and has encouraged members to form frlendships whilst learnln&
perforrning, and has planned to travel together in October to perform in the Mansion House and Irish Emba55y in London. Logisttcal
and financial barrier5 to participat￿)n were removed. 50 that any youn8 pprson can enloy all the benefits NBYC mernber5hip
affords.
The Cost.of-Livin8 Crisls Schools Support Fund- an lnitlat￿e created by BCS to support 11 post prlmary schools supply free
breakfast and lunche5 where appropriate in the most deprived area5 of Belfast. The society re5pon(ted rapitjly and flexibly, getting
support tij the people who need It most as quickly a5 Posslble by p￿￿dIng fundlng. Scho(•ls In these communlties have absorbed
re31-term cuts in their bud8ets and 54Jflered di5proportionally. however over 9.250 pvpi15 benefitted from this prole¢t.
- Nl Hospice- Specia115t Cornmunlty ca￿ Palllative NuT5es project- The first year of a three-year project wlth Nl Hospice, the
society covered the salary costs of ul the Specialist Community Care Pa1113tive Ntsrses who are trained pancreatic cancer
awareness, symptom management. and appropriate 5UPPQrt for families of patlents with pèficreatic cancer and tnd-of life care.
The nurses have been workir*¥ in both the Belfast and South Eastern Health and 5Dcial Care TrusES,. have provlded care for 335
patiÈnt5. rn0Stly older pÈople. They have prov4ded Invaluable suppttrt and comfort In the final rnonths of ￿tIents. Ilves by 8ivSn8
farnlly necessary breaks from Earing and providin8 the resource to allow patients thelr last wlsh of pas51ng away at home
surrounded bv their farnilv.

- Mary Anr Mccracken Foundation-Anaka Project- BCS funded the Mary Ann Mccracken Foundation to pilot an arts arsd poetry
project wlth Anaka Women's Collertlve. a north Bellast cornmunlty of over flfteen natlonalltles. They worked with IDtal artlsts and
poets to tteate artwork and poetry in considering the Mary Ann Mccracken story and how it might relate to thelr own Itves as

The financlal statements have been prepared In attordance with the Society's Act. the Charities Act (Northern
Irelancll 2008 and the 'Accountin$ and Reportirng by Charities.. Statement of Recommedended Practice applicable to
Charlties preparln8 their accovnts In a£tordance with the Flnanclal REportln6 Standard applicable to the UK and
Regubllc of Ireland IFRS 1021" las amended for accounting periods commencln6 from l January 20161. The charlty is
a publlc beneflt entlty as defined by FRSIO2.
The atcounts are prepared in sterlln& whlch is the funrtlonal currency of the Charity. Monetary amounts in the

Wlth the exception of land and bulldings. property, plant and equlpment are stated at Cost less accumulated

amounts. being the fair value on the date of revaluation less any sobsequent deprEciation and impairment losses.
Revaluatlons are perforrned wlth sufficient regtslarlty such that the tarrying amount does not differ materially from
that which could be detemined u51ni falr values at the reportln8 end date.
If an asset's carryin8 amDunt is increased a5 a result of a revaluatlon. the increase shall be recognised in other
comprehensive incorne and accumulated In equity. However. the incre35e shall be recognised in profit and 10$5 to
the extent that It reverses a revaluatlon decrease of the same asset previously recogn15ed In profit of loss. The
