Presbytery
Under the Presbyterian Church in Ireland fonn of governance the corporate oversight of a congregation is the
responsibility of a Presbytery which superintends generally the spiritual and temporal affatrs of the
congregations assigned to it by the General Assembly of th¢ Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Annalong
Presbyterian Church has been assigned to the Newry Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The
rnembership of the Presbytery consists mainly of the active ministers of congregations assigned to it by the
General Assembly, minsters who have retired from active duty and an elder appointed by the Kirk Session of
each congregation.
The General Assembly
The General Assembly is the supreme court of the Church, representing in one body the whol¢ Church and
acting as its supreme legislative, administration and judicial authority, in dealiT]g with all matters brought before
it. The General Assembly is nonnally constituted during the frst week in June for worship and to conduct its

community such as through the care of those in need (including the sick, disabled and bereaved).
Generally the above benefits are delivered locally by congregations and their metnbeTS, or are facilitated through

The pury)ose does not lead to harni. The only private benefit flowing from our purpos¢ is relat¢d to Ministers,
Missionaries, Deaconesses, Irish Mission workers and Lay Agents who receiv¢ benefits as a result of their
holding office or employment. How¢v¢r, this is incidental and necessary in order to further our charitable
purpose. There are no other private benefjts. The beneficiaries of this purpose are membern, their families, other

Going Concern
The activities of the congregation are dependent on ongoing contributions from its memb¢TS, The Trustees are of

Reserves policy
The T￿￿fres have considered th¢ level of unrestricted reserves that it is appropriate to hold taking account of
current and ongoing commitments. It is the policy of the Trnste¢s to hold at least 3 month's nornial expenditure
in the General Fund. At the year-end unrestricted general res¢rv¢s were £73.750 (2023 £62.289) which
represents a higher level of reserves. The Trustees however, ¢onsid¢r it prudent to hold reserves at this level as

Depreciation
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off th¢ cost or valuation of an asset, less its residual value, over the
useful economic life of that asset as follows..
Fixtures and fittings
IOQ/o straight line
Church Propety - Given th¢ nature of the properties aT]d the high level of on-going maintenance to which
they are subject, no d¢prexiation is applied to Church Property. The residual value of Church Property is
onsidered to be at le￿t equal to the cost (deerned cost) of the propety.
Investments
Unlisted equity investsnents are initially recorded at cost, and subsequently measured at fair value. If fair
value cannot be reliably measured, assets are m¢asured at cost less impairnient.
Financial instruments
The charity only has f￿anCIal assets and f￿ancIal liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instnlments ar¢ initially recognis¢d at transaction value and subsequently
n]easured at their settlement value with the exception of bank loans which are subsequently measured at
arnortised cost using the effective interest method.
Defined contribution plans
The charity operates a defmed contribution pension scheme and the pension charge represents tbe amounts
payable by the charity to the fund in respect of the year.
