FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment funds are funds, the capltal of whlch must be retained either permanently or at the congregation's discretlon,. the income derived from the endowment Is to be used either as restrlcted or unre5trlcted Income fund5 dependlng upon the puipose for which the endowment was establlshed In the first place. Restricted funds comprise lal income from endL>wment5 whlch Is to be expended only on the restritted purposes Intended by the donor and Ibl revenue donations or grants for a speclfic congregatlonal activity intended by the donor. Where these fvnd5 have unspent balances, Interest on thelr pooled investment Is apportioned to the Individual funds on average balance bas15.
