GARDENMORE CONGREGATION OF THE PRESBYfERIAN CHURCH IN IRELAND NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS 31-Dec-23 ACCOUNTING POLICIES BASIS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS As the lolal income of the congregationls less than £250,000 the congregation have elected in accordance with Ihe provisions In The Charities (Accourlts and Reports Regulatlons (Northern Ireland) 2015 to prepare its accounts on receipts and payments basis. FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment funds are funds, Ihe capital of which musl be retained elther permanently or at the congregation's discretion. the Income derlved from the endowment is to be used either as restricted or unreslricted Income funds dependlng upon Ihg purpose for which Iha endowment was established in the first place. Restricted funds comprise (a) income from endowments which Is to be expended only on the reslricted purposes intended by the donor and (b) revenue donatlons or grants for a speclflc congregational aclivity intended by Ihe donor. Where these funds have unspent balances, interest on thelr pooled investment Is apportioned to the indivldual funds on an average balance basis. Unrestrlcted funds are incorne funds which are to be spent on the congregation's general purposes. Designated funds are general funds set aslde by the congregation for use in the fulure.
