FUND ACCOUNTING Endowment funds are funds, the capltal of whlch must be retalned elther permanently or at the congregation's discretlon; the income derNed from the endowment is to be used either a5 restrirted or unrestrirted income funds depending upon the purpose for whlth the endowment was established In the first place. Restrfcted funds comprlse {al income from endowments which 15 to be expended only on the restricted purposes intended by the donor and Ibl revenue donations or grants for a speclfic congregational actlvtty Intended by the donor. Where these funds have unspent balances, interest on thelr pooled Investment 55 apportloned to the Indlvldual funds on an average balance basis.
