A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purpose for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

Movilla Abbey Guides is a group of girls and young women aged 10-14yrs who meet 36 weeks a year on a Monday night from 7.30-9pm in the hails in Newtownards. There were 28 Guides when the unit finished for the summer on 16th June 2025 and 5 regular adult registered leaders and unit helpers.

The girls completed many badges and different activities in the hall to complete Challenge badges, Theme, Bronze, silver and 5 Gold Awards.

During the year we had trips to the pantomime, a residential weekend at Gosford Guide house, a Halloween sleepover at Lorne outdoor activity centre and a 7 days summer camp at Auchengillen Jamboree in Scotland. This year we also started planning our international trip for the summer 2026.

Girls learnt a range of new lifeskills and challenged themselves to try new things during the year with their volunteers. They completed a number of local community activities such as litter picking and helping collect items donated to 4 local charities along with raising money for the local hospital ICU in memory of one of our young leaders.

There was no harm flowing from the Movilla Abbey guides & Rangers programme and activities.
