Londonderry/Glendermott/Derry/Church of Ireland Report of the trustees for the year ending 31 December 2025- Continued.........

The trustees are pleased to present their annual trustees' report together with the financial statements of the charity for the year ending 31 December 2025.,

The financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

The principal function of the Parish of Glendermott and Newbuildings is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting, through the work of the Parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering support for those needing help are fundamental to the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianity.

As a result of activity in the pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, the Parish of Glendermott and Newbuildings has custody of property and of records, materials, and artefacts of significance to the cultural and religious heritage and maintenance of which is undertaken by the Select Vestry.

Purpose 1 the expression of the precepts of the Christian religion through engagement with the public, and in particular with the disadvantaged, the sick, the elderly and the young is a public benefit. This can be measured and evidenced through increased social integration and pastoral care delivered at the point of need. The direct benefit of participation in Church life includes the enjoyment of public worship and the giving and receiving of pastoral ministry, improved understanding of the values relating to civic engagement, community cohesion and providing a bridge between diverse groups as well as improved educational outcomes through the Church's ministry of teaching. The beneficiaries are the public, and the public valuation of the benefits can be evidenced through attendance at public worship, participation in Church governance and willingness to support through contributions the continuing witness of the Church. The wider benefit to the public will outweigh any detriment arising in the course of Christian outreach. Any private benefit arising out of the fulfilment of our Christian ministry or to lay staff is essential to the fulfilment of the purpose of the advancement of religion. No Trustee receives remuneration, reward or other private benefit for carrying out their Trustee responsibility.

Purpose 2 the direct benefits flowing from this purpose include the provision of archive records, public enjoyment of cultural and historic buildings and artefacts such as church plate, furnishings, and materials as well as an overall improved appreciation of longstanding Christian heritage. This is demonstrated through on-going provision of access to records and the use made of these records in, for example, research and genealogy, through conservation efforts in respect of records, property and artefacts and the subsequent and continued requests for access and use of our materials by wider society. There is no harm arising from the purpose. The beneficiaries are the public. No private benefit is received by trustees fulfilling their trustee responsibilities in respect of these records, buildings or artefacts, but in the course of conservation and to make these accessible to the public, the engagement of professional staff and services is essential but incidental to the fulfilment of the purpose.

The mission statement of the parish relates to the advancement of religion through holding regular worship and communicating with and caring for parishioners and others in our community

Objectives:

The principal function is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting through the work of the Parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering support for those needing help is fundamental to the practical delivery of the tenets of Christianity. As a result of activity in pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, the Parish has custody of a large body of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural heritage, the maintenance of which is undertaken by the Parish as a secondary charitable purpose.

The main areas of activity of the organisation are:

Youth

Every Sunday except during July and August there is Sunday school for the young people of the Church, held before Morning Worship. There are also a number of Organisations Affiliated to the Church which run activities aimed at both members of the Congregation and the wider community, The Rainbows meet on a Monday night for the very junior member of the Parish and on a Wednesday night the Brownies, Scouts and the Guides meet in the Church Hall. All these organisations are open fo all members of the community. For those of teenage years there is Youth Fellowship where activities and fellowship to meet the needs of teenagers are catered for. The Youth Fellowship group for those Young People aged 11-14 meets on a Sunday Evening at 7pm

Outreach Activities

The Church opened a Charity Shop and Outreach centre in November 2015 in Glendermott, to reach out to the local community, The Charity shop sells donated goods as well as providing tea, coffee, and light meals. The Charity shop now has volunteers from the local community and originally it aimed to open far just 3 days per week, due to demand this has now stretched to 6 days a week. The Shop has a prayer room and a Children’s Bible Club runs in the community during the summer. The Charity shop in 2021 established a Men’s Shed and Polytunnel to grow vegetables. At Christmas there is a community Crib service. A youth worker has been employed funded by a grant from the benefact Trust to work with the youth of the parish. RESERVES POLICY

Introduction

The Charity is keenly aware of the need to secure its viability beyond the immediate future. In order to be able to provide services over the longer term, the Charity must be able to absorb setbacks and to take advantage of change and opportunity. The Charity will provide for this by putting aside, when they can afford it, some of their current income in a Business Investment Account as a reserve against future uncertainties.

Definition of Reserves

For the purpose of this policy the term "reserves" is applied to that part of the Charity's income that is freely available for its general purposes. Reserves are the resources the Charity has or can make available to spend for any or all of its purposes once it has met its commitments and covered its other planned expenditure.

The definition excludes unspent money from restricted grants i.e. where a donor has specified what the money must be spent on and the Charity does not have the power to spend the money on anything else.

Why hold Reserves?

The charity is exempt from tax on income and gains falling within section 505 of the Taxes Act 1988 or section 252 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 to the extent that these are applied to its charitable objects.

STRUCTURE, GOVERANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Londonderry/Glendermott/Derry/Church of Ireland registered with the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland on the 26th February 2016.

Recruitment and Appointment of the Select Vestry

The charity trustees for the purposes of charity law and under the company's Articles are known as members of the Select Vestry. The Constitution does not set out a term of office and therefore at the Annual General Meeting the members of the Select Vestry step down but are eligible for nomination again along with any new members also nominated at that time.

Principal Funding Sources

The Organisation is dependent on securing donations in order to deliver its services.

Please refer to the breakdown of income contained in the financial report (page 11), for full details.
