The Tnjstees, Rewrt rx)ntsins the infomiation required to be provided in the Trustees, Annual Report under the
Slalement of R8comrnended Practice {SORP) guid&lin6s. The trustees of Ihe company are also charity trusts8s for
the purpose of charity law and under the wmpanvs constttrtion ar8 known as members of the board of trustees.

The ￿MpanY Is a registered charity and hence the report and results are presented in a fo￿ which complies wlth the
requirements of the Charftlas Act {Northem Ireland) 2008 and. although not obliged to comply wth the Statsment of
Recommended Practice for Sma118r Entities (the FRSSE) (effeclive 1 January 2015}. the organisation has
implementsd its recommendations where relevant in thase financial statements.

In order to o¢hieve a cohesive way fomard for Pobal Éanna, the vision and Mission of all four i￿1￿ldual organisations
were synergised In the 2017 Pobal Éanna development plan to ￿te one voiix going foThvard. The new ovararching
vision and mlsslon of all of indeperKlent but interdependent orgaiysations within Pobal Éanna are:

structure
Baltybought, a townland on the north side of Ihe Cave HIN. is home to a small. thrfving Irish Language community
whose need5 are currenlty met through the seMc*s provided by Pobal Éanna. an umbrelLg COn￿Pt which consists of
the four independent, but Interdependent, organisations as shown below..

CLG Naotnh Éanna is the original and largest organisation viithin Pobal Éanna. 1115 w85 established in 1956 by a
small band of ￿mM[[ted Gaels who, right fr￿ the Winning. considered the development of the Irish languag8 to be
of high importanc8. despite limng in a very hostile environment Naomh Èanna has gone from strenglh to strength and
n¢)w boasts atrnost 1000 members, 700 of %thorn are underth8 age of elghteen.
As a seGond generation of Gaels reach&J &lulth)od and conSider￿j ralslng their own families, the commitment to
Irlsh medium education of the site developed aThJ in September 2004 Nalscoil Éanna 0￿rned its doors Gaelscoil
Éanna following in September 2007.The staff and volunteer board of NalscDil and Gaelscoil have developed the
academic and pa51oral reputation of both to the point that they now collectively educata PUFiIs.

In 2008 it became apparent that rf the Pobal Éanna was to sucteed It would be necessary to provide developmental
support to the growing community needs of th& chiklran and parants Involv￿ with Naornh, NalsGoll and Gaelscoil
Éanna.
As a dirert response to these ernerging need4 Crol Éanna was formed to d81iver a range of community development
services to the growlng Irlsh Language Community.
Crol Éanna Is establlshed lo establlsh and support the growirvJ Irish Language Community in its locslty.
Crol Éanna also advances and disseminatss knowledge of the Irish larKJuage and cultur6 through extra-curricular
dasses and events. These are held u5ualy during evenings and weèkends.
Crol Eanna is not politically motivated or in￿enced and does not provide scholarsh￿5 for named indlviduals or
founders kln.
Th8 benefrts of Crol Éanna's wtposes are Intended for the wblic in general. Althowh we can id8ntify that the sèctton
of tha public that can benefit from Ihe charity is tho s￿10￿ of Feople who intend lo learn more about th@ Irish
language and cutture. A common characteristic shared by the interest in delivering ¢ommunity led and based servicBs
through the medium of Irish.
The individuals we engage wth mainly come from the inmediate North Belfast arKI South Antrlm area. although it
should be notsd that b￿uSe of the emphasis Crol Éanna Fdac85 on developing crosxommunSty linkgges, we have
participants from a range of community backgrouTrJs aTrJ fr(Mn a wid8 geographlcal calthment area includlro Lame,
Carrickfergus, Portrush, Hollywood and Newry.
The benefft flowlng directly from Ihe charills pwposes is demonstrable to and beneficial for th8 g&ngral public. The
famlllas and individuals who tske part in Crol Éanna activities are directly affected by those activities, {for exampla
language classes and h8arlng spoken Irish at cultural events), in a positive way.
Their di3posilion to the Irish language is changed, thalr g8rEral ethjcation is improved and thelr appre￿ation of Irish
language and ￿ltUre is increased. This in tum has a benèfidal and secondary effeca on firture generations and on Ihe
secknon of public who have not directly be8n Invo￿ed in the televant events and activiknes.

reputation of said lulors and teache￿ as a result of th￿￿ Carrying out the work of Crol Éanna.
