Achlevements Performance and Publlc Bene
To provide a safe environment for Special Ofympics athletes and volunteer5 to participate In Special

athletes to improve thelr skills wlth a vlew to attendin8 Special Olymplts Competitlons. The dirett
beneflts whlch flow from purpose (a) include athletes and volunteers being more involved in thelr
community and developing friendships through partlcipatlng in sport. Athletes will also have
Improved physiol and mental health from partlclpatlng re8ularly In 5pofL and as a result of more

aub Mana
ement Re
ort from Annual General Meetin
At the 2018 AGM there was a major change in personnel.
We had 6 members Stepplng down from thelr committee roles.
5 of these also stopped volunteerln8 at the dub whlch left a large hole In our volunteer numbers.
So, the new commlttee that was elected ortainty had some thallenges to face.
A smaller more focused committee was establlshed with just 7 members. The 5.0 rules state that the
committee must have a mlnimum of6 member5 with defined roles.
Over the course of rhe year the commlttee met on 10 occasions.
Thls year Is the 4th year of the Olympic cyde.
Whlle we had a lot of athlete5 who got a Gold rnedal at the All-lreland Games we were once agaln
unlucky not to secure a spot at the World Games.
As a result. there was little competltion for our athletes.
We entered 2 teams In the Bocce 7's League.
The Braves fin15hed In 3rd place in their Lea8ue and all played very well.
The BSOCS team won thelr dlvi51on In great Style.
They went on to the U15ter Play-offs and flnlshed in 4 place overall.
As we approach 2020, we see the start of the Re8lonal adVan￿rnent games whlch are the first step
on the path to the All-lreland Games.
Whlle It Wa5 a quiet year on the sportlng front the commlttee took the opportunity to beef up the
volunteer tralning.
13
11
There wa5 over 35 maln days of trainlng throu8hout the year.
9 volunteers took the first ald course, 16 volunteets dkl safe-guardlng tralnln& 3 volunteers took the
designated offlcertrainln& 4 dld the AEO traini￿ 3 dld Introduction to coachlng prattises, 3 did GDPR
tralning.
Joan and Chamialne passed the Level i Bocce course which wa5 3 full day5 with a lot of homework
thrown In.
We now have a full requirement of level I coaches for Boc￿, Aquatlcs and Table Tennis. We also have
a level 2 coach for aquatlc&

Thls level of coathing is now a requirement for us to compete at SO events. We are indebted to have
so many coaches and volunteers willlng to give up their weekends for training purposes.
However, we need a level I coach for athletics and so far, we have been unsuccessful In recrulting
someone. Michael did a 2day Asslstant Athletics Coaching course. but we need a coach with a level I
qualification.
With such a hi
gh level of tralnin& we have left the dub in a very good posttlon. Of course, any new
volunteers will be offered the opportunity of tralning.
The soclal slde of the clubbs aly) very important.
We attended the Panto In Armagh last December followed by a meal in Molvs Mlll.
We a150 revamped the end of year awards ceremonyto celebrate the success of our athletes thlsyear.
Back In August we had a nl8ht of bowling In L15burn and some food In McDonalds.
On the fundralsln8 51de we had the most successful coffee morni￿¥ ever.
It ralsed over twlce as much as the pre¥lou5 year.
We were also lucky er￿Ugh to get a bag-pack slot In Tesco at Xmas.
Our most recent event was on Saturday 2 November when three athletes attended an Athkte
Leadershlp Programme vAth mentors Charmalne and Angela. They leamed all about the athlete
leadershlp programme, partlclpated In a first ald course arKI some yoga. An enloyable day was had bv
all. Amy mentored by Clalre wlll also be tsklng part In the programme. All the athletes will have the
opportunity to complete thelr 8ron2e Sll¥er and Gold awards and hopefully they wlll be able to fulfil
thelr task5 to achleve these along wlth thelr mentors.
Can I lust tske thls opportunlty to thank the outgoln8 commlttee rnembers for thelr hard work over
the past year, their hard work Is much appreciated.
There Is a massive commltment from a team of dedicated volunteer5 who work very hard wtth our
athletes SO that our Athletes get the best out of thelr sport. We a￿ lucky to have a group of very
enthusiastlc volunteers that the club could slmply not do without.
I would also Ilke to thank the famllles who brfng thelr athletes to the varlous venues and to trainlng
each week. Your support Is much appreciated.
Flnally, I have to thank the athletes, IYS great to see so many of you tumSn8 up to the club each week
and working so hard at your sporL
