The aims and objectives are to promote a play-based learnin9 environment f or preschool children, to promote the involvement of the parents in activities of the group and to support the values and principles of Early Years. The trustees are conf ident that the Playgroup has continued to meet its aims and objectives throughout the course of the year. thanks to the knowled9e of Miss Judith Irvine. Judith brings much experience with her and makes sure that her team is up to date with all training, f irst aid. child protection, health, ¢]nd saf ety, new procedures and she liaises with our social worker and early years advisor. Judith is also to be commended for building UP good relationships with other local Play9roups. Dervock Community Playgroup would like to thank the principal, staf f and Governors of the William Pinkerton Memorial Primary School for involving the Playgroup in the lif e of the school and for sharing resources. During the academic year September 2023 - June 2024 we had 22 preschool children and 12 pre-pre children who attended 2 af ternoons per week. 12 of these children went to the William Pinkerton Memorial Primary School, 6 to Bushvalley, I to Straidbilly, I to Damhead, 2 to the Model Prim(ry School. We held our open day on 29 November 2023 where prospective parents and children had +he opportunity +0 mee* staff.

We were successful in receiving funding f rom the getting ready to learn team. This enabled us to provide a lending library (￿d home learning activities. We welcomed education visitors into our setting such as. Rugbugz. jump. jiggle and jive, Mini prof essors ¢2nd wee critters. rn the settin9 our objectives (md plannir¥J our activities for the year, the trustees have given caref ul consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance of public benef it to ensure that the activities hove helped to achieve the Charities purpose and provide a benef it to the public. The main source of funding is f rom the Education Authority. The Playgroup is a non- prof it making and the trustees are aware of the need to apply to grants and to f undraise to provide more learnin9 opportunities for our children. A good deal of time W*2S spent by of f ice bearers chasing up paperwork f or grants. Our thanks should be expressed for the time and effort that was spent plannin9 ahead even if no immediate benef it was f orthcomin9. The Playgroup has a reserves policy to maintain suf f icient f unds in a readily realisable forni, this includes an amount for redundancy payments should the Playgroup have to close.
