Elmgrove Parent Teacher and Friend Association
Chairperson's Report - Sept 2016 - Sept 2017
On behalf of the PTFA committee I would like to take this opportunity to express our
sincere thanks to all those member5 of the school and local community who have supported
us throughout the year. This report will highlight the activities undertaken by the
cornmittee to supporc the pupils, parents and staff of Elmgrove Primary School and Nursery
Unit. It will outline how the additional funding provided has enriched the learning
opportunities for our children.
The PTFA started out the year by continuing the collection of copper coins with each class
competing against each other. The majority of the classes in the school entered into this
fundraising exercise with great enthusiasm. The committee also organised a non-uniform
day in the first term.
In December the PTFA organised a Christmas Fair, with school stalls, craft stalls, Santa visits
and performances by our school choir. This was a busy evening and a great fundraisir¢g
opportunity which saw many of our children, their families along with members of the local
community turning up to support the work of the school.
The Valentines, Disco was a highlight in Februiry with four discos being run on one evening.
The children bought tickets ahead of time to allow for appropriate supervision to be
organised and treats were provided for each child. A local DJ provided the music for the
evening and the children enjoyed dancing together.
In the final term the Summer Fair became much bigger 2nd better this year. There were
new additions of stalls, inflatable and ride on ponies that really boosted the attendance of
children and parents. This turned out to be the best ever attended PTFA even¢ helping to
promote participation in school life while also fundraising for the work of the school.
This year the PTFA provided Santa visits and Easter te2ts for the children, provided
playground toys for both school sites, helped to challenge the support provided for pupils at
Elmgrove, supported in attendance trip for children with IOOYO attendance and purchased a
popcorn machine for use in school events.
Our PTFA committee has added significant value to the work of the school, it has
encouraged partiClP2tion in the life of the school, supported the children of the school.
challenged the support available to the children of the school and provided valuable
resources for the children. The committee has also been a wonderful forum for parents
2nd friends of the school to sociali5e and build friendships.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who h2ve been involved in the work
of the committee and encourage new members to join us in the future.
