open to and engaging with society and offering support for those needing help are fUnda￿ents1 to the practical delivery of the
benefits of Christianity.
As a result of activity, in thc pursuit of the adv2ncemcnt of the Christian religion, St Lurach's Parish of Maghera has ¢us¢ody

A¢hievements,Performanee & Public Benefit
To help achiev¢ th¢ advancement of the Christian religion and provide public benefit the Sele¢t Vesty of St Lurach's.
Maghera & Kill¢lagh. continu¢d to share the thrth and love of Christ in our community. Our vision statement.. "A family that
loves Jesus and has his h¢art for the world" is at the ¢entre of a]1 carried out by the Parish and charity.
This vision was expressed during FebNary 202i, when we hcld a "Bring-and-share" luneh to foster community relations.
While in Ma￿h we raised £IOOO in 2Td of the Turkey-syria Earthquake appeal and ¢loscr to home held an outside event in the
Rectory grounds for families- "Lost sheep scavenger hunt" In the run up to B￿er. the Parish organised a well-att¢nd¢d
'Gtrspel-music' conffrt, which led into Holy Week event% such as a, Healing and Whol¢ness' service and traditional Maundy
Thursday and Good Friday services. Additionally, for childrett and families, we ran a'messy Good Friday" event as an
alternative to the more traditional Easter services. Along with participation in school assemblies. our spiritual caJe and nUrTh￿¢
for children h&s b¢en a vits] ministy and public benefit to our ¢ommunity. The r￿St half of 2023, ¢ulrninated in a'coronatiort
Party" celebrdting the crowiing of King Charles 111 in May, and our"Children's Day" and BBQ along With a "Vinta8¢ Car"
ly for th¢ ¢ommunity in June.
During the summer, w¢ held a children's holiday bible club called "Epic ExploTers" and then took part in a community day in
Maghera Walled Garden by setting up a BBQ St￿
As we kicked off the new ¢hurch year in September: we did so by s¢tting up a family "Prayer Trail" around th¢ Rectory
grounds we held a"24-Hour Prayer" ev¢nL which invited members of the Partsh and community to bring all their ¢ares-
spiritual, emotional, and prM¢tical. to God - for thems¢lves, the Parish, a￿d the community. All were welcome and St Lurach's
Chureh remained open throughout the night to b¢ a¢¢essible to everyone in Maghera and beyond.
Reaching out with the love of Jesus, we ran an Alpha course in Seplember-october for thos¢ who wanted to find out inore
aknut Christian faith. Moreover, utilising the changing se8son& Harv¢st was celebrnted with a "Big Breakf&st" and special
Harvest servic¢s in both churches tn October. And os we moved inl0 November. traditional services were held on
Remembrance Sunday.
Children's mtnTsty ¢ontinued and increas¢d throughout the year. From the Parish's Sunday School group r¢starting, to sp¢cial
events held for priJLary-ag¢ children such as a "F¢stival of Light" to C4)incide with All Hallow's Eve. Additionally. we hosted
a children's Christma5 party and enjoyed a ¢hildren's Nativity Play.
In Decemb¢r, along with a return of the Parish Christmas dinner. a special sertes of ev¢nts and serYic¢s were held to celebrate
the trn¢ meaning of Christsllas. The them¢ was a "Chrtstrnas of C8ro15" during which we took a]1 the favourite carols and used
thern to explain how they told the Christsnas story. Such events included traditional church servffice& an ecumenicai Carol
s¢rvice held in aid of "Cancer Researth", a very surxessful "Community Carols by Moonlight" held in the Rectory grounds, a
"Fiv¢ Lessons and Carols" s¢rvi¢e at'mullagh Court" sheltered housing, and a"Parishionerf5 Favourite Carols" servi¢¢.
We believe that the Parish of St Lurach's: Magbera & Killelagh ha5 rneaniDgfully de]iv¢red its aims 2nd objectives. The
ch￿lty listed as "St Lurach's Parish, Magher&" has given careful consideration to the 'Charity Commission for Nl, guidan¢¢ on
public benefit to ellsure that th¢ activities entered itito during the year have helped to achi¢ve the parish objectives and
tivities, &s well as providing publi¢ benefit to the wider ¢ommunity. All in all. we are ple￿ed that our recovery from the
effects and impact of COVJD ate palpable and we intend to ¢any fonvard all the good work don¢ and completed by the end of
2023. We look fonvard with anticipation and ¢xcitemeni to all that 2024 will hold.
