The Latt House Trust ILHT) Ch￿lty is a smajl ch￿lty was established in order to encour2ge youn8
stsLdents from part of Northern bdand IBanbridge, Newryy Kilkcel areal to apply for entry to Orford
UJllversity or Cambridge UniversÈty. The LErr encourages students to fLther their edueationgl exTrenence
and thus benefit the broader public good. The Lirr belleve rhat fiirthcring (he educa(ion of local students
in OxFord and Cambiidge Univetsities wkll be to the advantage of not only the local area but also Northern
Lrdand as a whole.
The LHT receives its money from its single benefactOT, M￿tin Shiejds, past piipil of Banbridge Academy,
and eacli year the SUC￿SSfUl Applic3nts receive a £1,000 Burs￿. This Bursary is paid to each student in
the fjnt terni of the UniversiLy yeat. The Trustees of the LHT meet regularly to th'scuss and award the
Bursa[]￿.
Over the past six yean a totsl of18 local students have benefktted from the LHT BuTsaTies.
There were five Applications for a LHf Bursary for this academic year. The apph"cants this Ye￿ were from
BaELbndge Academy, KilLeel ￿gh, St. Co]man's Cojlege and die Sacred He￿t Grammar.
The Bursary of£l,000 is &￿Tarded to all five StsLdents at rhe LHT Bursary Presentation Evening,
The Annual Financial Return was approved.
