A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

Following the COVID 19 pandemic the Brownie unit was allowed to reopen to Face to Face meetings in September 2021. There were girls who were now the age for Guides, however the unit that the Brownie unit fed into ie 5[th] Lurgan Guides, the leaders had decided to stand down from volunteering during the pandemic when units were closed to F2F meetings. To prevent the Guide unit from closing we as Brownie volunteers decided to take on the Guide unit as well. From Sept 2021 – August 2022 we did not have access to the Guide unit accounts/monetary funds as they needed to be transferred from the existing signatories etc. We therefore used 1[st] Lurgan Brownie account for monetary transactions for both 1[st] Lurgan Brownies & 5[th] Lurgan Guides for the financial year 1/9/21 – 31/8/22.

Both units were delighted to be back to face to face meetings & we continued as individual units to progress with the Brownie/Guide programmes with the girls learning new skills, taking part in unit meeting activities, completing badge work & working towards Theme awards. There were nights of craft, baking, playing games, as well as outings for Brownies to Snowtubing and Guides to Ten Pin Bowling. Both units also took part in a sponsored walk in Lurgan Park raising money for the units & for the Girlguiding estate at Lorne.

We were unable to attend any residentials during the year due to continuing COVID restrictions in that area
