In January 2025 we started the year with 22 Guides and completed their Make Change stage
4 Skill Builder, Campaigning interest badge and Take Action theme award of the Girlguiding
programme. A major part of the Campaigning badge was raising money for a charity. The
Guides chose to hold a bake sale to raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children, designing
a poster, decorating boxes for their bakes and inviting family and friends to the sale. The
fantastic amount of £540 was raised and handed over to a representative of the charity on
9" May who told the Guides about the respite for families provided at Daisy Lodge.
Outdoor activities of cooking over a campfire, Smore’s and Scavenger hunts and a District
Fun Evening took place before breaking up for summer.
We returned with 25 Guides in September with 3 new girls coming up from Brownies. They
all achieved their First Aid stage 4 skill builder, Mixology interest badge and Be Well theme
award of the Girlguiding programme and took part in Parliament Week activities before the
Christmas break.
There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and that there was no private
benefit.
**----- End of picture text -----**
