The Charity was formed in 29/07/2016 . It is governed by a Constitution, Trust deed, Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The Council is established to promote the relief of parent/carers, their children young people and adults with disabilities and their families. The Council will provide a forum for the views of parents/carers to be heard and to work in partnership with those who provide services for disabled children and their families. The Council aim to provide advice, information, resources, education, and support; to parent/carers and their young people with disabilities and their families with the object of improving their conditions of life enabling them to reach their full potential.

To further these purposes for the public benefit, we carried out the following activities:

Main achievements in the year were

We are a group of parents of disabled children and young people. We advocate and represent all families of young people with disabilities. We work in partnership with the Department of Health, the HSC Board and the Health Trusts. We also work with RQIA. We represent on the Southern Trust Learning Disability Carers forum. We have worked on the ten‐year social work strategy with

the Southern Trust LEP group. We have worked with the Queens University of Belfast School of Nursing and Midwifery. We work on the Regional Quality Improvement Programme for Social workers and Nurses. We provide training and education to Nurses and Social Workers. We represent on the Inquiry on the Hyponatremia Related Deaths (IHRD). Families have told us they are happy that we represent their voice in all these forums. As a board of Trustees we have met six times this year.
