ANGEL WISHES TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 The Trustees present their report and accounls for the year ended 31 March 2024. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Ihe accounting policies set out in note 1 to tke accounts and comply with the Angel Wishes's constitution, the Charities Act (Northem Ireland) 2008 and Ihe Statemenl of Recommended Practice, "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005. Structure* governance and management The Angel Wishes was established by a charitable trust deed on 18 February 2016 and its governed by the terms of ils constitulion. The Trustees who served during the year were: Ms G Kerr Mr J Donaldson Mrs J Connaghan MrA Kerr (Resigned 30 September 2024) The Trustees shall be elected at the AGM by the members present in person. or through an aulhorised representative. Tfustees may hold office for a period of up to three years and shall retire in rotation with the longest serving one third to retire at each AGM. Every Truslee after appointment or reappointment must sign a declaration of willingness to act as a charity twstee of the Charity before he or she may act as Trustee. Vvhen invited to serve the Trustees are provided with the charity's objectives. The objectives and activities of Ihe Charity are managed and administered by a Management Committee Comprising honorary Officers and other members elected in accordance with the constitution, known as the Trustees of the Charity. The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Angel Wishes is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks. Objectives and activities Angel Wishes was established to relieve the sickness and distress of children with cancer related conditions. They provide gifts and special treats to the children, including their siblings, especially throughout intense treatment. Support is also provided to bereaved families and siblings. The benefits which flow from our purpose include relieving distress, giving emotional support and reducing isolation specifically we give the children a huge lift and insure them they are brave children and help them smile again. This is evidenced by organising and providing treats and outings for beneficiaries and working with local business to help make these happen. These benefits will be supported through feedback from our beneficiaries and will be further demonstrated by additional families affected by cancer contacting us for support. Devastatingly some of the children will not respond to treatment, they will become a priority fami ly at this stage. As time is of Ihe essence Angel Wishes will endeavour to give these families as many wonderful memories as possible and Ihe child will be given a gift of their choice, 'Their Gift if Love,. The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities Angel Wishes should undertake.
ANGEL WISHES TRUSTEES REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Achievements and performance Angel Wishes was first registered as a charity on 18th February 2016 and operated as a support grP prior to this dale. Since its conception, Angel Wshes has made an invaluable conlribution to improving the lives of sick children and their families through various activities and by providing gifts and support. Angel Wishes continues to be run purely by volunteers and 100 % of the donation goes directly into supporting the children and their families. Angel Wishes has to continued to support many families during this period in the following ways.. Gifts for the diagnosed child to keep their spirits high Emotional support for the parents Private days out for immune suppressed Children and their families Special home visitors for the young superheroes Education support via AV1 no isolation robots which keeps the children in touch with their school friends and up to date with their lessons. Financial support for the siblings to provide flights for them when their sister or brother is receiving a Bone Marrow Transplant helping prevent separation anxiely Garden Gifts are provided during the summer period for families who are unable to go into public places such as play parks VIP suites for special events at the Odyssey Special treats to watch the Belfast Giants when on maintenance treatment Halloween extravaganza for all families Financial support for each child in the family for helping with the cost of Santa Private Santa experience for families who are unable to attend our Christmas party due to low immune system Mega Christmas party Financially supporting all newly diagnosed families with a lump sum to help ease the financial stress at the time of diagnosis Providing counselling support for families Providing use of 'Heir Lan Ben, House in Ballintoy for families affected by cancel related illnesses to spend quality time together away from reality and make memories. Financial review During the year the Charity generated incoming resour5 of £254.686 Outgoing resources were £135,351 leaving net incoming resources of £119,335 for the year to 31 March 2024. Charity reserves should provide the organisation with adequate financial stability and the means for it to meet its Gharitable objectives for the foreseeable future. The Trustees retain funds in the Charity to finance the ongoing running costs of the charity and to provide funds al short noti to finance the objectives of the charity.
ANGEL WISHES TRUSTEES REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Plans for the future Angel Wishes continues to support our families financially and emotionally throughout Iheir journey. Heir Lan Ben House will continue to be used by families to give Ihem an opportunity to relax and switch off from the journey Ihey are on. Extensive work being carried out at Heir Lan Ben House with the garage being made into a double rcDm, insulated and heated altaching it to the main propety along with improvements to the outdoor areas to provide a safe and welcoming area for people to use. ANGEL WISHES INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ANGEL WISHES I report on the accounts ofAngel Wshes for the year ended 31 March 2024, whlch are set out on pages 5 to 8. Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examlner The charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. It is my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act. to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 6519)(b) of the Charities Act- and to stste whether particular matters have come to my altention. Basis of Independent examinerfs report I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland under section 65{9){b) of the Charities Act. My examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the chaiity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view, and the report is limited to those matters set out in Ihe statemenl below. My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe.. 1. That accounting records were not kept in accordance wilh section 63 of the Charities Act 2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounling records 3. Thal the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of the CharitiesAct 4. That there is further information needed for proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination and have no concerns in respect of the matters (1} to (4) listed above and, in connection with following the Directions of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, i have found no matters that require drawing to your attention. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards, the Slalement of Recommended Practice, "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005 and the Charities Act2011. 1.2 Tangible fixed assets and depreciation Tangible fixed assets other than freehold land are stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost less estimated residual value of each asset over its expected useful life, as follows-.
