ANNUAL REPORT I- APRIL 2022 TO 31ST MARCH 2023
The purpose, aims and objectives of the Trust are set out in the Deed of Trust, dated 19 November 1999,
and the Memorandum of Understanding of the same date.
The public benefit which arise5 from the purpose is the improvement in the capability of the Scout Groups
in South Belfast to fulfil the aims and objectives of the Scout Movement being the development of young
people in achieving their full physical. intellectual, social and Spiritual potential as individuals, as citizens
and as members of their local, national and international communities.
To achieve this the Trust provides funding for identified needs of the Scout Groups and associated sections
in South Belfast using income from investments managed by Trustees. Funds are made available upon
successful application which must be in line with guidelines set by Trustees. Since the Trust was
established followin8 the sale of the District headquarters building which realised £113,916.70, Scout
Groups, Explorer Units and individuals have benefitted from funding and support. As of 31, March 2023,
the Trust Fund had a value of around £182,000.
During 2022-2023, Scouting in South Belfast returned to pre-covid activities which included indoor and
outdoor meetings, camps and special events. The Trust once again supported Scout Groups Wlth a grant of
£500 per Section providing Scouting experiences and skills for life. The Trust also supported youn8 people
selected to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in South Korea, Summer 2023 and three adult
Leaders selected for the WSJ International Service Team. A total of £10,300.
The Trustees have continued to meet f3ce-t￿face to fulfil the Trust's administrattve commitments.
