report With the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2024. The

Structure, Governance and Trustees
GLOW_ Giving Life Opportunities to Women which is registered as a charity with the Charity
Commission for Northern Ireland INIC104660}. was incorporated as a company limited by
guarantee in Northern Ireland, registration number N1633767.
Objectives and Activitl
Glow Nl is a registered charity based in Belfast which focuses on empowering women and girls
through its trauma-informed programmes. Established in 2011, Glow Nl was developed frorn a
common desire of women in the local community to address issues facing their peers such as low
5elf.esteem & confidence. mental health challenges. isolation and a general lack of purpose.
As an inter.generational, cross community organisation, Glow Nl challenges the stat115 quo in order
to break the cycle of these issues by equipping women and young gids with tools and techniques
to build the5r confidence, self-e5teem. resilience and life skills. This will help them set positive,
realistic steps in achieving their 8oal. enabling them to live happy fulfilled live5. Our programmes
include - The Real Me for women 18+. and Glow and Grow for young women and 8irls aged 10 - 17
years old.

Glow Nl believes that all women and girls should have the opportunity to create purpose in their
lives and so our unique programmes create a positive atmosphere and allow women and girls to
discover their true selves. This has a knock-on effett as participants can positively impatt on their
family and community. especially in setting young female famlly membets up with confidence and
life skills to have a successful future.
Our mission 15 to support women and girls to feel heard. valued and ernpowered, while helping
them thrive and reali5e their full potential.

This annual report covers an 18-month period, from October 2024 to March 2026, following our
decision to change the financial year end to March.

Report of the Trustees continued...
The past 18 months have been widely acknowledged as one of the most challenEing periods for
rant funding across the voluntary and community sertor in Northern Ireland. While it hasn't been
an easy period, we are pleased to report that Glow Nl has been fortunate to have sustained its
funding base through grant irTrcome. fundraising and donations allowing us to protett and grow our
programme delivery for the women and girls who attend Glow Nl.
We have continued to adapt. expand and strengthen as an organisation, actively seekinE joint
fundln8 Opportunities and partnerships that have allowed us to continue reachin8 the most
vulnerable women and girls living within our communities.
A particular highlight has been the expansion of our programmes into local schools, bringing our
work directly to gir15 and young women at a formative stage in their lives. The feedback from
schools, participants and partners has been overwhelmingly positive. and the impact created
through this funding has reinforced the importance and relevance of what Glow Nl deliver5.
The launch of our Strategic Plan 2026-2029 has been a Significant milestone for the organisation. It
has sharpened our focus on key prioritie5. provided a clearer framework for decision-makin& and
POSttioned Glow Nl as a more sustainable and resilient organisotion going forward.
We have also invested in the strength ol our 8oard, welcoming new trustees over this period. This
has further increased the skills and experience on the Board, strengthening its ability to support
the orEanisation's continued growth and provide strong governance. strategic plannin&
community involvement and marketing for the future.
We have also significantly strengthened our govemance. financial management and fundraising
practices through the work of the Glow team and Board. including improved financial processes
and more cohesive policies.
Fundraising continues to play a vital role within Glow Nl. not only in supplementing grant income
but also in raising Glow Nl's profile across the community and bringing like-minded organisations
together around a shared purpose in helping women and girls within our communities.
This has all been possible due to the unwavering dedication, hard work and shared commitment of
our CEO, the Glow Nl team, our Board and volunteers. Their belief in Glows mission, together with
the time, energy and care they continue to invest, ha5 been instrumental in helping Glow Nl grow
stronger and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of the women and Eirls we
support.
We look forward with hope. determination and confrdence in what we can achieve together In the
year ahead.

Going Concem
After making appropraite enquiries. the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the company
has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseable future. For this
reason they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial Statements.
Further details regarding the adoption of the going concern basis can be found in the Accounting
Policies.
Financial Review
The results for the period ended 31 m?￿h 2026 are set out on pages 8 and 9 of the financial
statements.
The total income for the period ended 31 March 2026 amountedto £256,02812024.. £157,884.)
The total expenditure was £282.549 {2024.. £174,255.)
The Trustees consider that the unrestricted funds of the charity is sufficient and adequate to fulfil
their obli8ations. The charity held £97.728 (2024: £124,248) in reserves at the year end,
Reserves Policy
Our target minimum Operating Reserve Fund is equal to three months of average operating costs
to ensure the financial stability and continued provision of ongoing operations and programmes.
The Operating Reserve serves a dynarnic role and wll be feviewed and adjusted in response to
nternal and external changes. The Operating Reserve Fund will be funded with surplus
unrestritted operating funds. Restricted reserves will be used as specified in the funderfs
contracts.

Trustees, responsibilities statement
The Trustees Iwho are also direttors of GLOW- Giving Life Opportunitie5 to Women for the
purposes of company lawl are responsible for preparing the Trustees. report and the financial
statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standard (United
Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law require5 the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under
company law the Trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that
they glve a tfue and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the income
resources and application of resources. including the income and expenditue of the charitable
company for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the Trustee5 are required to..
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
obseprfe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP,.

l Accounting policies

GLOW - Giving Life Opportunities to Women is a private company limited by guarantee
incorporated in Northern Ireland. The registered Offi￿ is= Unit Bl/l, 1st Floor Old Mill, Conway
Mill, 5 - 7 Conway Street, Belfast, BT13 2DE
1.1 Accounting convention
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the charity's governing document, the
Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Siatement of Recommended
Prartice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021. {as amended for accounting
periods commencing from l January 2019}. The charity is a Public Benef it Entity as defined by FRS
102.
The charity ha5 taken advantage of the provision5 in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102
Update 8ulletin I not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.
The financial statements are prepared in sterlin& which is the functional currency of the charitv.
Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. modified to
include the revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment properties and certain
financial instruments at fair value. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Going concem
At the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that
the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
Thus the trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the
financial statements.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their
charitable objectives unle55 the funds have been designated foi other purposes.
Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors as to how they may be used.
1.4 Incomlng resources
Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any perforrnance conditions
have been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be
received.

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has
been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount.
Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is
recognised at the time of the donation.
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents
amounts receivable for goods and services provided in the normal course of busine55, net of
discounts, VAT and other sales related taxes.
1.5 Resources expended
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation
com mitting the charity to that expenditure, it 15 probable that a fransfer of economic benefits will
be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measure reliably.
Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under heading5 that
aggregate all cost related to the category.
The charity is below the charity audit threshold and therefore is exempt from reporting
expenditure on an activity basis. The charity has opted to report by the nature of expenditure
rather than on an activity basis.
1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation,
net of depreciation and any impairment losses.
Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values
over their useful lives on the following bases-.

1.7 Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term
liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank
overdrafts are Shown within borrowing5 in current liabilities.
1.8 Financial instruments
The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments, and
Section 12 '0ther Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.
Financial instrument5 are recognised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party
to contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial
statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to Set off the recognised amounts and there is
an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability 5irnultaneously.

1.9 Basic financial assets
Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at
transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using
the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where
the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipt5 discounted at a market rate
of interest. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year ore not amortised.
1.10 Basic financial liabilities
Basic financial liabilitie5. including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction
price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument 15
measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest.
Financial liabilities classified a5 payable within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortlsed cost, Using the effective interest rate
method.
Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary
course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment
is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non<urrent liabilities. Trade creditors
are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the
effective interest method.
1.11 Derecognition of financlal liabilities
Financial liabilities are derecognised when the charity's contractual obligations expire or are
discharged or cancelled.
1.12 Employee benefit5
The cost of any unused holiday entitlement Is recognised in the period in which the employee'5
services are received.
Termination benefits are recognised immediately a5 an expense when the charity 15 demonstrably
committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide termination benefits.
1.13 Critical accounting estimates and judgements
In the application of the charity's accounting policies, the trustees are required to make
judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are
not readily apparent from other soUr￿s. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on
historical experience and other fartors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ
from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to
atcounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the
revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the
revision affects both current and future periods.
