VISION and MISSION

MAC Vision Statement is:

“MAC is an active and friendly society which supports and works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Community at large to foster good relations”.

These values and ideals are amplified further in the Mission Statement:

Craigavon Muslim Association of Craigavon is a voluntary group which aims to meet the needs of all Muslim families by giving support through social, spiritual and education activities for young and old.

We strive to work closely in partnership with other Faith Communities, various community groups and local authorities to improve good relations which will help Muslim families celebrate their identity and integrate with the society in which we live.

Objectives

1. To promote the spiritual, social, educational, recreational, psychological and physical well-being of all members of the family.

2. To help these families preserve their Islamic identities, and integrate in the community of Northern Ireland as Northern Irish Muslims.

3. To complement the work of other local and national organisations supporting local Muslim families.

4 To organise and facilitate voluntary community work.

• Chairman’s Report

As the Chairman of Muslim Association of Craigavon I am pleased to present our Annual General meeting report for years 2017. Looking back on 2016-2017 and reflecting on all the developmental activities including a series of meetings and networking, MAC has increased their profile level significantly.

I am determined to ensure that myself and the Management Committee continue to make extremely positive contributions to meeting the needs of our community including education,

personal development, Islamic Culture, Integration and organizational development.

Future plans

The Management Committee, volunteers and community are

extremely commendable and are strength to the Muslim community here in NI. However, we need to source and secure funding, increase volunteer capacity to achieve our Strategic Goals and secure future stability.

The upcoming year will present challenges for us with funding opportunities especially with the restrictions due to staffing and funding. However, I am confident in the commitment of the Management Committee, volunteers and community contribution to continue to provide a place of worship and service provider for the Muslim community.

Strategic Development We are dedicated to our recent strategic plan’s implementation over the next five years and the vision that it ascribes to. MAC are hoping to start in the service delivery of Islamic Cultural Awareness sessions to the wider non Muslim community, schools, Government organizations, youth groups and many more groups to help dispel myths about the peaceful religion of Islam. MAC continues to establish a political line, core voluntary staffing structure to work towards supporting the needs of the community.

MAC management committee has sought parental feedback for the development of the Quran and Arabic classes and has recently re-structured the curriculum with the support of the dedicated teacher Br Hesam to ensure that all of the children have the opportunity to learn Quranic and Islamic study.

I would like to thank the wider community for their ongoing support of the project. I would like to thank all of those whom have contributed to MAC, I must say that without their financial support we would not be able to continue the work and services, thank you.
