Charlty no NC104629
Our g08l at Mlnnowburn RDA is to provide adults with various disabilities, both physical 8nd
mental, with therapeutic riding.
This yearwe have had to change our locatlon as Burn Equestrian Centre closed at the end of
August 2023. Fortunately. we were offered a place at Lusk Equestrian Centre in Lisburn and
continue ourwork with our riders to achieve their therapeutic goals, enjoy socialising together,
make new friends, develop their skills, and build rel8tionships with the horses that we use. We
are still ableto ride outdoors. weather permitting and have access to outdoor and indoor
arenas. Our riders get great pleasure from their riding lessons and enjoy spending time togeth8r
whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. We all get together at Christmas for lunch and when our
rides finish forthe summer holidays when we have a BBQ and prize giving.
Our riders atso can enter RDA competitions, and some went to the RDA Regional
Championships in May and, a first for us, the RDA National Championships held mid-JuLy in
England.
We are very grateful to the owners of Lusk Equestrian Centre and to the owner of the riding
school who 8llow us to use their facilities free of charge. We also are grateful to the riding school
and to some liveries who loan us horses free of charge. We also own one horse called Mario
who joins the other horses to help us provide this valuable and much appreciated therapy.
We do allwe can to make sure that the sessions are well planned and carried out safely and
professionally. We also ensure our coaches and volunteers ar8 kept up to datewith training to
RDA standards.
We do some fundraising and rely on don8tions to cover ourcosts. Our riders 81so pay a nominal
fee. Our main expenses are the cost of keepingour RDA horse and insurance.
We feel that we have had regard to the Commissions guidance on public benetit and have
fulfilLed our obligations in this respect.
