BANGOR GROUP RIDING FOR THE DISABLED
l April 2022-31 March 2023
CHARrrY NUMBER NIC104618
The Charity exists to provide Therapeutic Riding and associated actiVit￿S to children with special
needs in the Bangor area.
The principal add￿55 of the charity is clo Roseanne Amos, 31 Old Quay Road, Holywood, Co Down

The group met on Wednesdays during school term time approximatsly 14 times during the year. All
activities were for pupils of Clifton Special School. Bangor. During the year we took on up to
8children and provided them with the opportunity to learn to ride. As Usual the children seemed to
tske enormous benefrt from these se55ions and even those who were reluctant at the outset
enjoyed the experience.
We hire facilities and ponies from Birr House. Bangor and are well supported by them. We are
charged £IO.(X) per pony per hour. The other key cost is insurance. All instructors and volunteers are
unpaid. Our primary sources of income came from fundraising activities as detsiled in the accounts
which have been submitted.
The Public Benefft provided by Bangor RDA Gmup is hard to measure in concrete ternis but we do
see improvements in the confidence and self assurance of the children once they become
accustomed to the exercise. We certainly see improved physical benefits in tem)s of the children's
balance, core strength and coordination.
We make every effort to ensure that the sessions are conducted safely by using sustably qualified
instructors and trained volunteers. All go through an enhanced Access Nl check as well as providing
two references and we have an annualty reviewed safeguarding policy. We always have a qualified
First Alder in attendance.
We consider that we have had regard for the Commission's guidance on public benefit and have
fulfilled our obligations in this respect.
