## Activities

**Purposes:** The Forum is established to advance education, promote and advance community development, promote social inclusion, relieve poverty, hardship, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit and wellbeing of the communities resident in the Ferris Park and Greenland Crescent areas of Larne, Co. Antrim and their environs and surrounding areas (hereinafter called the &quot;area of benefit&quot;) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religous opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for the recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of fostering a community spirit and improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular:  (a) to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre (hereinafter called &quot;the centre&quot;) and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the Forum and its constituent bodies in the futherance of the above objects;  (b) to support community development and wellbeing activities and to work with partners to support community cohesion, the promotion of adequate housing conditions and the development of a sustainable community;  (c) to promote community safety through the support and development of appropriate programmes and projects which aim to address crime and anti-social behaviour;  (d) to promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the inhabitants within the area of benefit who have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, age, disability or infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to increase the abilities, skills and self-confidence of such inhabitants in the area of benefit;  (e) to relieve poverty by the promotion, facilitation and organisation of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training, information and support in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining employment;  (f) to pormote social inclusion and integration for the public benefit by working with people who are socially excluded or at risk from becoming socially excluded on the grounds of their employment, financial hardship, poverty or social and or economic position, in order to relieve the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society;  (g) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the committee, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.  For the purposes of this clause &#x27;socially excluded&#x27; means people who are excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; race; gender; poor educational or skills attainment; substance abuse or dependency including alcohol and drugs; disability; sexuality; ethnic origin; or who are within, or have experienced, the public care or penal system.
